It isn't made for only obese people, but also people who just want to build muscle tone and maybe lose a few pounds. I am trying to lose about 20-30 lbs. The plan includes eating on a strict plan and being active 6 days a week. I am on week one, and I already feel better, guess I have to stick with it a little longer to see the physical effects. Has anyone else who has tried it had any luck? Any tips?

I did it several years ago and yes, it works! In 12 weeks I lost about 30 pounds of fat and gained about 5 pounds of muscle, and was probably at about 10% body fat.

On the downside, it takes a lot of self-discipline to exercise 6 days a week and not cheat on the eating plan at all. I could not imagine eating and exercising like that on a permanent basis, and I gradually gained all of the weight back.

Also, many of the people who are in the Body For Life book or Success Journal and website, use various EAS Supplements to build extra muscle. I chose not to do that and while I gained muscle I didn't like the guys in those pictures.

Anyway, I still have a favorable opinion of the program and am just embarking on another challenge.

So, I encourage you to gut it out for 12 weeks. It's a great program for those with 20-30 pounds to lose who can stick to it for 3 months. But beware - once the 3 months is over you'll probably want to modify it a bit to something that's easier to stick with on a permanent basis. My mistake was I gradually went back to my old ways. But even now, having gained the weight back I actually think I am more toned then I was originally.

Anyway, I'd say go for it!
