I am just not sure about organic food. I have purchased it, tried it and there are some problems. First, the expense. It is so expensive and the food is not always readily available - apples and strawberries are frequently not found in organic health food stores if they are not in season or not ready for picking. Second, some of it is questionable and has just as many calories as your normal food choices. Third, OK so I bought organic ketchup to give it a whirl. First time I tried it, it tasted good and I liked it - was happy about making the switch. But then I noticed something - the organic ketchup is really runny - where Heinz is thick and hearty like a ketchup should be. I ended up going back to Heinz. I think organic food tries to be healthy...but there's not a whole lot we can do. Our food must be preserved somehow and that means chemicals!

Yes, I would. I do purchase as much as I can manage to afford. But I'm particular - I'm suspicious of the USDA Organic label, because I feel they are letting foods get the label without actually fulfilling all the requirements.I also look for Certified Organic By QAI(Quality Assurance International); and Certified Organic By Oregon Tilth.

I'd purchase more organic food if I was sure that it wasn't just the bad looking food from the regular counter... it,s hard to know if the grocery store is just trying to pass off regualr stuff as organic by selling more expensive...

I would purchase organic food more than canned and frozen if I was sure that it was REALLY ORGANIC! These days companies are trying to put organic words on everything so people are more likely to buy it with! It isn't always organic!

No I wouldn't'. To be organic, food only has to be 70% organic and will bear the label Made with organic products. Only needs to be 95% organic to be completely called organic. Everyone believes it is safer to eat because there where no chemicals used on it. The only way to guarantee organic food, is to grow it yourself. Otherwise save your money, buy from a local farmer or produce stand, and WASH IT YOURSELF

Oh, I would NEVER purchase non-organic food. It's had all those fertilizers applied. My standards require organic even if it's more expensive. After all it's had manure applied instead of "chemical" fertilizers.

Right now, there isn't that much difference nutritionally. Show me a farm that actually puts *nutrients* in their soil (and manure doesn't always count - you can't poop out what you didn't eat!) and then we'll talk.
