I would not worry about resistance to a sulfa drug for a long period; so just hope it works.

nope it is the absolutely right choice of antibiotic for that problem take it like the doctor says and you will do fine, they have done years of research on that particular problem and wouldnt give it if the side effects were worse than the problem they are treating

If your doctor prescribed it, you should be fine taking it for a while. My dermatologist gave it to me also, and it may have worked, had I not reacted to it.
