Yes and hell is found in the Hebrew and Greek Scriptures . It is not a place of torment, but is the common grave. Here are a few places where hell (Greek "hades") or in (Hebrew "sheol") can be found:
Psalms 139:8: " If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there."
Proverbs 9:18: " But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell."
Proverbs 15:24: "The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath."
Amos 9:2: " Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down."
Jonah 2:2: " And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice." (The belly of the fish that swallowed Jonah would have been his grave, had God not rescued him)
When Adam and Eve sinned, they were told they would return to the ground from where they came. All who died afterwards and who now die, go to hell (the grave) and it is comforting to know that they are not being tortured for God is not sadistic but is a loving God. The Bible says the dead know nothing at all. (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10)

Yes there is a Hell. There is a Heaven and a Hell. There is no in between to these 2 destinations and those that do not come to know Christ as their personal Lord and Savior will end up living in the eternal pits of hell when they die.
If they accept his gift, through believer's baptism, then they can go into heaven.
Ye must be born again, and immersed in the Holy waters of Baptism to enter the kingdom of Heaven.

Of course, you won't get an account from an eyewitness but many people choose to believe there is a heaven and a hell after this life. Some people experience hell while still alive, though. Just ask anyone with a mother-in-law.

Dont take this as a smart alec answer, because it will truly help you if you want to know the answer.

The main question is, how do you define hell.

Then...
It depends on what you believe in (are you part of a denomination, are you agnostic, etc). Along with the following questions and many many more. Do you believe in God (if so which one?), sins, life after death, evil vs. good, hell on earth, hell elsewhere, the Bible, the Torah, the Quran, The Fundamentals of Buddism, Jesus Christ, etc.

Then...
It depends on who you ask, how you ask, and where you ask.

Then once again...
What you believe?

Once you figure that out, you've got your answer.

No, hell is just an excuse to make children behave themselves. People use it because they have no idea how else to wip their kids into shape. Think about it.. What better way to scare them than to say if you are not good you will spend an eternity in hell?!
It is a good concept. Think half the people in the world would be as nice and charitable if they didnt think it would save them? The world would be in chaos if they didn't believe their sins would be punished.
So no I dont believe there is a hell. It is just something used to make people be better.

the word for hell is the same as the word for grave in the bible. It doesn't teach a firey hell that burns forever any more than it teaches the soul lives immortally. The lake of fire will burn all who are not found worthy yes but it is the result of the fire that is eternal, and the soul is the body and breath together not something seperate. People need to read with understanding not just accept what ministers and priests say.

If you mean is there really a common grave of mankind where there is no consciousness and most all descendants of Adam are destined to be because of original sin--Yes!!

If you mean is there a place of firey torment where a loving God sends his children to burn and suffer alive forever because of 70-80 years of disobedience on earth--NO WAY!! This is a lie and a misrepresentation of scripture used to manipulate people. Don't you believe it for one minute. God loves everyone and would never do such a horrible thing.

My friend, if one was to actually read what the word "hell" means, as the hebrews believed. Hell is nothing more than a plot of desert outside of Jezrael, Israel. It is a real place yes,
but not as the Christians would have you believe.

There is no such place as hell, where there will be eternal gnashing of teeth, burning, etc.

The same serves true for the Christian idea of Satan. The Dark Lord is nothing more than a Christian perversion of the Pagan Horned god Pan, who represented nothing more than fertility, and prosperity.

Plain and simple, Satan and Hell are nothing more than a hoax created by Christianity to scare people to convert.

That depends on you. If you believe there is a hell then there is a hell. I do not believe there is a hell, hence there is no hell for me.
I do know there is evil, but of course I do not believe in it. You are looking for 'beliefs' versus facts, so I will say no more.

From what I understan Hell is just a really really warm and uncomfortable waiting place until the Day of Judgement when they that are waiting, including the devil, will be cast into the eternal Lake of Fire. Not sure what the difference is, but I don't really want to know.
