The Chicken came first

2006-08-22 03:55:24 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 1 0

There are a few schools of thought on this one -

Some geeza in the bible suggested that God created animals first therefore that would be the chicken.

But then some other geeza suggested that the chicken is just the Eggs way of creating another Egg which would mean the Egg came first.

However the obvious answer is the Egg because Eggs were found on the planet years and years before chickens were ever discovered.

The Chickens that we buy in Supermarkets today are actually decended from the ferocious Red Chicken that originates from Asia - That's completely irrelevent to the question I know but Ho Hum!

Think about this from a scientific point of view and it will answer the question once and for all. The egg came first.

If you have an egg, it already has the genes of the chicken. An egg cannot evolve or turn into anything different than what its genes say it is. To have a chicken, you MUST have a chicken egg.

But a chicken can lay an egg that has mutated/defective genes in it. In theory, at least, that egg could give birth to at least a "modified"/defective chicken. So just because you have a chicken doesn't mean you get a viable chicken egg. But you MUST have a chicken egg to get a chicken.

Therefore the egg came first.

Which came first - the chicken or the egg? "The chicken" came first - in the sentence of the question. If the question is phrased differently, the answer is different.
Reframing the question

It could be said that the question simply requires one to know the context. Most people thinking of the question automatically think of the timeline and it is in this manner that both the previous evolutionary theory and religious teachings contexts arise. Other potential contexts are:

* Having looked through a dictionary from front to back, which came first? - the chicken or the egg?
* When you walked through the supermarket, which came first? - the chicken or the egg?
* When reading the menu, which came first? - the chicken or the egg?

Two birds very like chickens mated, and produced an egg. Out of the egg came the first bird which was truly a chicken. So the egg came first, because all birds come out of eggs.

The Chicken because God made the animals 2 by 2 not eggs that had to hatch first.

The Egg, I believe the chicken was either a hybrid of two species or is simply an evolutionary step. Either way, it must have been born so the Egg came first.
