What is the path to the PGA. In other words what do you have to do to make it.

There are a few ways to the PGA: 1) Sponsor exemptions in PGA tournaments a la Tiger Woods and Michele Wie. Tiger Woods had a few sponsor exemptions and did exceptionally well when he turned pro. He did well enough that he earned enough money to be in the top 125 money list. If you are top 125 for the season, you'll be exempt the next season. If not in top 125 but top, I'm not sure, say 200 you might be exempt on the Nationwide (the J.V. of the PGA Tour). 2) Q-School (Qualifying School). You have to pay a relatively good sum of money to enter the tournament along with a great USGA handicap. There are many stages to Q-school. The final stage is I believe 6 rounds of intense golf. I want to say that the top 30 and ties at Q-School are fully exempt into the PGA Tour the following season a la Camilo Villegas I think. Then a number of people after the top 30 are fully exempt into the Nationwide Tour. 3) Nationwide Tour. You go through a full season in the Nationwide Tour and if you are I want to say top 25 or 30 or something similar, you are fully exempt the following year on the PGA Tour, a la David Duval.

To keep your PGA Tour card, you have to again be in the top 125 and ties to be fully exempt the next season. Or, if you have won certain tournaments such as a major, you'll get fully exempt status for a number of years.

Ok First off you should be able to play like hell.
I mean get to a point where your worst score is par over the whole season.
then just go into any tournament with a softfield usually around a major (eg Reno-Tahoe next week) and try to monday qualify
there.
once you make the 156man field finish in the top10 and ur set.

slightly more tougher route is go to Qschool you have finish about 7-8 under over 6 rounds on a tough tough course and
you get a tour card for sure,
the entry fee is about 4000 for Q school.

either way if you sucseed sponsors and money wont be an issue
