Wouldn't having 15 or 16 clubs make it a lot easier?

Don't you think it would be easier with a couple extra clubs in your bag? I like to carry four wedges and I have heard from many teachers all amateurs should, now everybody carries a Driver, 3-wood, and 3-9 irons, and a putter. Most people have a pitching wedge, a sand wedge, and a 5-wood. Thats 13 clubs I like to have a Lob Wedge, Gap Wedge, and a 2-iron in there also but thats 16 clubs, I could do without the 2-iron but with a Gap Wedge thats still 15 clubs, don't you think we could do a least a little better with one or two extra clubsin our bag?

I suppose that it could be better to carry more clubs in your bag, but if you don't know how to use them, then they're just taking up space. If you go with less clubs, then you use those more and get much better at using them. By watching other people, I have found that most people can't use anything well above a 6 iron. Then again, if you have the time and dedication to use all those clubs well, then if it probably worth it.

The official rules of golf limit the number of clubs you can carry in your bag.

Clearly, if it's just you out there playing a round, carry as many clubs as you want. But in an event, the pros are limited. Every once in awhile, a pro will choose not to take one of the common clubs for a speciality club that they feel will be required by the course.

Most golfers can't manage 14 properly. for the average golfer more clubs just creates more confusion. I on the other hand regularly carry 17 clubs.
