My son is in the Air Force. He was stationed at Spandahlem for 3 years, and returned to the states last November. He is currently stationed at Cannon AFB in Clovis New Mexico.
I can tell you Germany is an extremely beautiful country. It's full of old castles and tons of heritage. He had a great time during that tour. He even met and married a sweet little Polish girl he met there. They were able to do quite a lot of traveling there as well, going to most parts of Germany, as well as Paris and London just to name a few. I think you will really enjoy the experience, I know I would.
As for you finding a job, I really don't know much about that. I would suggest you talk to someone at the proposed base to find out if there are any opportunities on base. Maybe the liaison who helps you with the relocation process would be a place to start. So far, the Air Force has been very accommodating and able to help with anything either of them need. At Cannon, our daughter-in-law got a job on base, so they may have something over there you can do.
The best of luck to you and your husband. And, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for all you do. This Air Force Mom sends all her support and admiration.

Hard to believe you received some sarcastic/rude answers to a very innocent question. Some people just like to be insulting. It's in their nature.
We haven't been stationed in Germany, but we have visited there a lot since being stationed here in Italy, and I also went there with my husband and stayed for a two week conference he had at
Ramstein Air Base. We sometimes fly into and stay on the Air Force base (We're Navy) there, and it's really beautiful. I seen someone on here answered they hated Americans there, I'm not sure where he has been, but that hasn't been my experience and I have been all over Germany. As a matter of fact, Germany has been one of the most welcoming European Countries towards American that I have been to.
The culture is amazing, and the people are so warm and friendly. Sure, you have jerks there, but you have that anywhere you live! (I live in Italy and this is by far the friendliest place I have EVER been in, United States or Europe, but you still run into asses every now and then, even here!)
I bet you could check out the base web-site there and you could get an idea of job opportunity's. You know, they do give the jobs to Military spouses and Military family members before they are offered to anyone else. I really think you would have a great shot of finding an office job.
I wish you the best of luck!

I'm an Army spouse in Germany. If you do go to Germany, Ramstein would be good, they are building so much on that base and it's already pretty big. Plus you'd be right there to catch Space A flights if you so choose. You should be able to get an office job on post. There is a web-site that lists the jobs and requirements for them. Germany's great because it is so central, it's easy to get to so many different countries from here, Poland, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, etc. Some of the German's don't like us and aren't afraid to show it, but many of them are happy to have us here and are friendly to us. I have a link to the job web-site somewhere, if I find it I'll send add it on to this answer.
P.S.- Can Air Force people really "choose" to relocate to Germany? In the Army we usually don't have a choice.
Here's the employment link: http://www.chra.eur.army.mil/
Since you are a spouse you will have preference for certain jobs.

I never served in Germany but every body I know who was stationed there loved it. Beautiful country, friendly clean people. Not like the french who just pour on more on more perfume instead of bathing. During WW 11 the french just stood around belly aching about the mess, the Germans were cleaning up as the allies were driving through. They were even fiiling up the fox holes the GI's left behind. A good decent hard working people. I wish I would have been stationed there. Italy would be nice also. Them lucky cats in the 173rd. Airborne are stationed in Italy when they weren't called up to jump into Iraq.

I don't hink that you would have any problem finding work there. It's been a few years since I've been to Germany, but I loved it. The only other place I love more is Ireland, but my mom came from Ireland - so there's a 'way back' attachment there.
The different cultures make up for a wonderfully interesting life, so enjoy the transition.

It depends of what you like, and what sort of life you want to have.
In contrary Germany is a country with a large cultural life for every taste, city's are clean, people are well Dressed, and Restaurants have excellent food, you can find restaurants for all and every taste , Schools are much better, Education is very important, and Germans are highly Educated people, ultra clean, and love Americans, but be carefully about politics , Germans read a lot and know a lot more then any nation that I believe to know, and statistic shows also that they are highly educated. like must Europeans, but if you ask me if they are friendly? i would probably say most of them are not.

Germany is well organized and clean. Yes I'm sure you'd be able to find a job, even if you don't speak German, and when you pick it up you'll have even more opportunities.
Remember that you'll need time to adapt, to the new language, new culture etc.
