ManiaXe,
Let me set you straight on that. I am glad that you asked that question. Depending on where you are at spiritually, you might see the truth of it.
Important: Going backwards from the End.
The Post Milleium
There will be a time when Satan is released from a place where he was bond for a thousand years. When he comes out, he will convince a certain people to rise up and come against Jesus who is at Jerusalem. No one except God knows how long that will take, and when it will occur.
The Millenium
1000 years of Chirst ruling on Earth. He comes down and sets His feet upon the Mount of Olives in Israel after He brings the enemies of Israel together to make war against them. He destroys those enemies and sets up the 1000 year earthly Kingdom. Not all Christians believe this, but I do an those who believe like me.
The Great Tribulation
This is a seven year period when God pours His wrath out on the Earth. It occurs after those that are in the body of Christ ( the church) are taken out of the way. Often referred to as the Rapture of the Church. On Earth, the Jews will have the temple built in Jerusalem, and on the World's stage a man supposedly of Peace will actually make peace in the Middle East for seven years, three and one half years into the deal he will break that promise, and make war. So seven years, the last three and one half years there will be many things happening that will make it seem that the Earth is being destroyed.
The Present Day
We are on the far side of all that I have written. Israel is a nation once again as was prophecied. The church is awaiting the Rapture. The Rapture, as with all the fulfilled "Set Times" or "Feasts" that are observed by the Jews were set by God to show His manipulation of history, in advance.
For instance: Jesus was laid in the tomb as a fulfillment of Passover. The Spirit of God was poured out on men speaking the tongues of all nations on Pentecost. The Rapture of the Church will take place on the Feast of the Trumpets. It might not be this year, but on any year it won't occur unless it's on the Feast of the Trumpets. This year, the Feast of the Trumpets happens on the 23rd of September, next month. If it does not happen then, it wont happen until one of the later years on the Feast of the Trumpets.
So we have the Rapture, whenever that is to take place, the Great Tribulation of seven years, the millenium for a thousand years, and the time that it takes Satan to convince a people to come again Jesus in Jerusalem, however long that is before the end of the world.

Jesus said that His return would be without signs and without warnings.
Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Therefore, we have no way of knowing when the world will come to an end.

The world itself will not end. It will "stand to times indefinite". The prophesies of the "wicked system" ending is as follows: The political system turns against the religious system, the U.N. becomes an 8th world power, U.S. power will be conquered, another "power" will appear, but will be wiped out by God's hand. The "last days" are recorded in 2 Timothy 3:1-5. Matthew 24:3-14 explains what world conditions will be like. We are already in the last days, just before God destroys the wicked people. I won't go into details here, but you can write me if you want more info.

I promise you Jesus Christ was not the Son of God and that man will never come back again, swooping down from the clouds to lift you all into paradise forever. I also understand that you'd like that to be the case, and therein lies the real problem. - Normal Bob Smith

A good interpretation of end times prophecy can be found in the book "The False Prophet" by Ellis Skolfield. It is a well researched and very plausible interpretation of old and new testament prophecies found in Jeremiah and Revelation. You can read it online in a couple of hours. It reveals Islam for what it is too.

No one knows the time or hour. If you look at bible prophecy there really isn't anything left that needs to happen. God could come back at any time. And for all of you who will laugh and mock this answer. If He does come back during our lifetime and you are left behind. I hope you will remember this message and seek after Him so you can have a fighting chance.

The world will come to an end when God wants it to be so. We have no idea when it will be. Says so in the Bible.
