I mean the big stuff, if there is really a god who loves us how could things like murder, wars, tsunamis horible diseases like AIDS affect good people who have live pretty decent lives?
I mean would you put someone you love in any of those situations?

Please sont say "God works in mysterious ways"

All things come from G-d and we may never know his reasons. Some of us may have a hard time accepting this but we really have no choice.

Without wanting to seem harsh, "That's life." There are certain things that just go along with living on the earth.

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Some of those things are because of people's own actions or the actions of others (according to the CDC, only 2.3% of AIDS cases come from heterosexual sex, and most of those have drug-using partners).

Also, you need to keep in mind that this world and this life is not everything. When you look at the big picture, things are more understandable.

God doesn't put us in those situations He gave us the ability to make our own decisions and the things we choose sometimes lead us down the wrong path. How do you define Good people? God has his own definition of what we should be. When we decide to go against him we decide to invite every bad thing that could happen into our lives. Don't get me wrong no one deserves to drown or to get AIDS or to be murdered. Many times when something bad happens I think God is just allowing it to see if I will turn away from him and when I don I am rewarded. Keep in mind every reward an punishment is not tangible. Being able to lay down and rest without worrying about all the wrong things I ve done is a gift from God He took my burden, and if I decided I didn't want to follow Christ any more I would expect my life to get more out of control. In the end God allows everything for a reason but you must remember just like there is a God in heaven There is a devil in hell.

I guess the answer/opinion depends what spiritual path you follow. If you're a Christian the answer could be the "mysterious ways" or could be some kind of "testing of faith" answer. If you're Buddhist, suffering is a part of the process toward enlightenment.

Although I was raised in the Christian faith, I personally like the idea some psychic/mediums put out there.... That we are evolving spiritual beings and we choose our life circumstances before we come into life for the purpose of spiritual education. Then, it's not on God doing or allowing something bad to happen to us. It's all on us.

The bible gives 3 reasons why people suffer today: people are ruled by "the ruler of this system..." who "is misleading the entire inhabited earth" known as Satan the Devil at Rev. 12:9. Second reason is imperfection brought on by Adam and Eve - diseases prevelent, so forth and third is "unforseen occuranences" Ecc. 9:11. Many take on Satan's attitude and are selfish, greedy, unkind, unloving, so that is very prevalent today in society, that causes a lot of poverty. Many get shot just being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and many get sick and cannot help it cause of inherited sin.

Don't worry though, many things can be prevented if people were loving and kind and took care of others. But since many don't that is why the Bible promises to get rid of the wicked people soon. Psalms 37:10,11. God will do away with them, but until then he wants many right-hearted ones to come to know him so that may survive and live eternally. 2 Peter 3:9.

God is NEVER the cause of suffering. Man does that by himself. God will just wipe away the suffering.

This may not be the answer you want, but God has a reason for the things that he does, and those reasons will be revealed to us in His time, not ours. However, even though these bad things happen (and usually to good people), we know that he is loving and just, and know that we can go to Him when bad stuff happens.

It's the classic problem of evil: How can a god that is all knowing, all powerful, and all loving let bad things happen? If God didn't know something bad was happening, or if he knew but couldn't do anything about it, or knew and could do something about it but didn't care then it would make sense. But it doesn't make sense because we are taught that God does love us, and does know what we're doing at all times, and can do anything. It just takes faith to trust that He knows what he's doing.

I read Job in the Old Testament after the death of a baby. It helped me.

I don't believe God works in mysterious ways, only in ways I do not and cannot understand. I understand this is not an aswer to your question. But to say there is no God, and murder and tsunamis are merely random events is hardly comforting either.

We have freedom of choice is the first answer.

This temporary affliction bears a great weight of eternal glory is the second answer. Jesus bore the sins of the world, which is something mankind can't fully understand, and He was raised to ultimate glory. As we suffer, so we will reap more glory in the hereafter.

To address your last question, a better way to phrase it is - Would I intentionally hurt someone I love? If it will better them in the end, certainly. If the only way to save my son's life, if he had a disease, is to operate and remove the diseased flesh, you bet I'd operate or get someone else to do it. The temporary pain he would go through (and has gone through the hospital) brought him home to me.

That which does not kill me makes me stronger

God gave us the choice to live in a world with Him or a world of our own consequences. We, or course, chose to do things our way. Welcome to the world we've created. You can choose to seek out God now and start making this world a better place by living the way He recommends, or we can continue to see the results of our sins played out day after day. We can make heaven here. There's enough of everything to go around, but WE choose not to. WE choose to do things our way.

God says love your neighbor. Take care of the needy. Get rid of evil. He didn't put us in those situations, we did. No mystery there.

Because since there is a God there must be a Satan, come on think about it, im not saying that all of this is the cause of Satan, AIDS for example, i believe God created to stop Pre-Maritial Sex, and yes God loves all people, but he doesnt like sin. Just read the Bible

God gave us all that is good in this world. Murder, wars, tsunamis, and horrible diseases like AIDS exist as a result of sin, as a result of man using his free will to turn against God.

The really cool thing is that since God sees all and knows all, he can take these horrible things and ultimately bring about good from them. Imagine all life and all history as a beautiful tapestry and God is the artist weaving this beautiful picture. Each of us is a thread in tapestry. We do not have God's perspective to see the entire work of art that God is creating. Please be assured that even though you might see dark threads all around you, that God is using them for his purpose and that what he is creating will ultimately be very beautiful. Please realize that even though it might seem like you are being bent and twisted this way and that in this tapestry of life, that from the vantage point of eternity when you look and see the purpose, see the picture from God's perspective, you will rejoice.

1 Cor 13:9-12 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
