I've been with my current bf for almost 6 years. I'm not sure whether we're together at this point because we love each other or because we're comfortable. For the first few years, you're always making time for each other and your heart still skips a beat when he kisses you. After this long though, naturally, the heart doesn't skip as much. Does this mean we've lost it? Does love change forms with time?

Look at any and all couples that have been together a long period of time. Do they all look like they still have that same "fire" they had when they just started out? No. It's not possible for us, mentally, emotionally or physically, to maintain that EXTREME state forever. It's only natural that it will calm down and become more acceptable, less stressful. So yes, love does change forms with time. So yes, in a sense, you have "lost" it. You'll never be able to keep it forever. But, what keeps most people going is what they GAINED afterwards. That sense of intimacy that you didn't have when you didn't know each other well. That sense of comfort and security and trust. If that's not there, then you might want to consider whether or not it's worth it to stay.
