Jesus is the modern English variant of the Hebrew, Yeshua. The name of the great Hebrew leader who followed Moses was Joshua, also the same name. We merely use the two different names as a convention.
As someone pointed out rightly, it's not so important that we agree on His name as it is that we know His heart.

The ancient Aramaic was Yashua oe Yeshua (some other variants also). We translate that into modern English as Jesus. The spelling is not important. The Christ is what's important

Actually, it was Jeshua. Anyone who thinks that the Christian's Messiah's name was Jesus is a little behind on their archeological studies. Jesus was a non-name at the time. Hadn't been used yet.
