Hunmans can live in sustainable ways as part of their environment.
The current predominant infinite industrial growth society model cannot be sustainable on a finite planet.
To control the environmental factors that endanger the biosphere of our planet a "great turning" is required in our culture and lifestyle from industrial growth to life sustaining belifes. "there is no Wealth but life"John Ruskin

we cannot control the environment in total. we can understand that we depend on a healthy environment for our health, and that many of our actions have wider effects than our own lives.
It is however very difficult to have this awareness and understanding in the current media & social climate.

There are a number of environmental factors we as humans can control or influence. We can stop the deforestation of rain forests for example, that has a huge impact on our environment. we can look into carbon sequestering in coal and natural gas powered power plants. We can increase fuel efficiency in our autos, turn off the lights when we are not using them. I read a recent article in scientific American that fly commercial jets at night has an net effect of trapping heat that is 90% greater than flying during the day.
There are many things large and small we can do to help control our impact on the environment.

I saw on T.V the other day where a scientist says its already too late to reverse the effects of globals warming. We've already done too much damage already to make any sort of repairs. Its sad really that as the human race we can't take care of each other or our planet.

Absolutely, but it's going to take major changes. Everyone is going to have to do the things that currently only the "weirdos" do. A ton, ton, ton of things. Like walking or riding a bike instead of driving whenever possible; drinking water instead of throwing away plastic bottles (for three reasons: making plastic bottles creates greenhouse gases, and throwing away plastic bottles both leeches chemicals into otherwise usable groundwater, and creates more landfills), eating little or no meat, fixing things instead of throwing them away and getting new ones .... basically everything that, right now, gets you accused of being everything from a ****** to a dirt-loving tree-hugging commie .....

all these things are going to have to become normal, everyday activities for Americans, not just for Canadians.

But if and when they do, we can absolutely control what is going on. Absolutely.

No we can not control the environment, but we can clean it up. then there would be no green house effect. If all of us where in on the clean up our world would truly be a wonderful place to call home. But fat changes of that happening because so many of us don't give a dam about our world.

That environment element could be us -- particularly, our urge to regulate. it variety of feels that our urge to regulate is, uncontrollable. that's impossible for each guy or woman to easily supply up all our controls understanding that no longer something is on top of issues. somebody could continually attempt to have such urge to regulate. Albeit an inductive reasoning, that so some distance has been the psyche of the full human race. notice: despite could replace which could in all probability be able to inflicting the extinction of the human race.

Whatever the cause, first you have to convince people there IS a problem. And Shrub (aka little Bush) doesn't believe.
And all those Stupid Useless Vehicle (SUV) drivers out there don't believe.
And what's up with everybody wanting a H3, gas sucking behemoth to drive in stop-and-go traffic in the city?
We gotta educate them d*mn sheeples.
