Just be yourself. Smile, and say hello. Don't be intimidated. For all you know, the person sitting next to you might be a new student also. Before you know it, you'll be comfortable with your new school and you'll feel like you've been going there for years.
Are you riding the bus? Maybe you can introduce yourself to some of the kids at your bus stop. Local friends are always helpful.
Adults have this same problem too sometimes when it comes to starting a new job.
Relax and have a good time! Going to a new school is a really cool experience.

That can be hard, but I know you'll be fine.
Try not to be shy. If you have a question about something, just ask someone who looks nice. Don't be afraid to say, "I'm new at this school. Can you tell me where _______ is?"
Probably at lunch you will have to pick someone to eat with. I'm sure you'll recognize someone from one of your classes. Just go right up to them and say "Can I sit here?" Since you were in class together, you'll have an automatic conversation starter.
Just remember that, as the new kid, you are mysterious and interesting. People will be curious about you. So you have the advantage in a lot of ways.
Good luck!

I did that a lot as a kid. If you aren'y painfully shy, just smile and say "Hi" to people. Some may ignore you, but more will respond and soon you will find yourself with new friends. If you are shy, you can still smile, even if you can't force yourself to do more. The whole trick is to be open when people talk to you. Then you can respond when someone else starts the conversation.

Go out and try to talk to people, just start up small talk, like "hi" or "how's it going." Usually other people that you will be living close to will be really willing to be friends with you and mostly everyone in college is friendly. Don't worry college is really, really fun, you'll just have to take some time to adjust.

Be yourself because you don't want to have to pretend to be someone else for the entire time you are there. Be friendly to all because you will be more apt to be accepted rather than thought of as stuck up. Join clubs to get to know others-besides that it can be fun! Good Luck!
