Interesting question. Do you realize that Barabas name was Jesus Barabus. He was a murderer. So the people were given a choice of Jesus, the giver of death, or Jesus, the giver of life. Even today, we are given the same choice of life or death. Many of us choose incorrectly. Which will you choose, today?

This is a hard question to answer because it can only be answered with hind-sight, knowing the outcome. But having said that and being a follower of Jesus, I would have heard what He said in the Garden and at the Last Supper and would have known what was to come. So with my heart breaking I would have remained silent so that the prophesy could be fulfilled. But at the same time I would not have called for Barabbas's death either.
I think Bubba's answer is a good one of choosing "the giver of death" or "the giver of Life". I too wonder how many people would make that choice today, I'm afraid too many people make the wrong choice in today's world.
Another good question is: "Who would you give your life for, Jesus or the ways or the world?"

Jesus already gave His life for us on the cross, so it's a little late to change that. I believe His disciples would have said, "Jesus." I am a Christian - a follower of Jesus. Based on my love for Him, I would like to choose Jesus - but that wasn't God's plan. Those on earth didn't have the authority to save Him. God's will was fulfilled.

This would be the classical moral dilemma. Good one.
I would say either way, the world would still consider Christianity a cult. And in the end, even had Jesus been set free, they still would have killed him one way or another.
Take Martin Luther King, Jr. and JFK. Other assassinations. Mob mentality, in two words.

I'd still choose Barrabbas since I've come to the knowledge of the significance of Jesus' sacrifice.

Aha, trick question!
I'd choose to free Barabbus. Why? I wouldn't want Jesus rebuking me as he did Peter when the soldiers came to take him away.

Barabbus
Jesus was foredained to die on the cross. Releasing Jesus would not have changed His death, even if that could have happened. It couldn't have. God decided the way it was going to go

Well, since Jesus could have called for legions of angels to deliver Him, yet choose to die vicariously, hence, He didn't need anyone to deliver Him, I wouldn't have asked for His deliverance. I'd have to let the state (I.E. Rome ) decide about Barabbas since he was given the death sentence for murder.
