If you found out that a member of your family had done something illegal, would you call the police, or assist in the investigation if you had found evidence? Or, would you stay quiet? Why or why not?

That's a good question, isn't it? And, I've asked myself just that a number of times. First, how far does "family" reach? If we're talking about a third cousen, twice removed, you probably don't have much of problem blowing the whistle. If it's a niece ro nephew, and the only reason you know about it is because your sister or brother told you, you may back off and let them deal with the problem. So, let's agree this is something in the immediate family.

Now, what's the crime? You find pot in a sock drawer, you confront whoever the culprit is and punish accordingly. Your husband or one of the kids becomes an addict, which means buying and possessing illegal drugs, you likely try to cope. You find out one of them is dealing drugs on some school play ground, you call whoever you have to to put a stop to it.

Beyond that, where do you draw the line? Would an incident of vandalism do it? What if we graduate to armed robbery? Do you call the police and hope whatever they're sentenced to will teach them a lesson? What if your husband is imbezling money from where he works? Call the authorities or encourage him to come clean and make restitution?

I don't think there's a simple answer to what you're asking. To your question of a choice between Honesty and Integrity vs. Loyalty; first, I think the person who committed the act has forfitted his/her right to loyalty. They've betrayed you trust. So, now, how much is your integrity worth? It's an individual determination.

There are undoubtedly some misspellings in this, but spell check isn't working.

It all depends on how illegal it was. If it harmed other people, I would consider it. But people usually have a way of being their own downfall and their own worse enemy. It would also depend on the persons personality and attitude towards me also. If we got along well, I wouldn't even consider caling on them but if they were the type that lied to me, stole from me, and were really just being a nuisance on society then, maybe a little jail time might straighten them out. Would I help the police, no.

Never, never call the police on your family..Talk to the family member. Tell him or her to straighten up or u will tell.Unless someone kills someone or there is child abuse then what goes on in the family should stay in the family. Good luck
