Wouldn't that depend on where you are going? What type scenery is available? All things being equal, I would suggest train as you have the ability to get up and walk around to stretch your legs and the scenery is much better. By plane all you can see are cloud tops. Ship is nice but the view doesn't change much. Final answer...train.

Could be on foot also!
One has to see - travelling where to > mountains may have limited train and air accessibility and ship - no chance!
Whereas destination like Lakshadweep has no chances for train and road journey.
So nothing can be said point blank - Requirement, budget, health, interest, situations etc. could be the determining factors to choose best way of travel in any given situation.

Plane is for "getting there" in the least time.
Train is for seeing your surroundings en route.
Ship is for the experience, luxury or otherwise.
It all depends on your goal and your timing.
No one way suits all.

if u r in a hurry then plane but if u want the enjoy the journey and scenery then train.

TRAIN , Always prefer Train first. You meet hell lot of people, can see hell lot of places (in the case of INDIAN RAILWAYS) , enjoy the food, people, culture and the PAIN .
