Read more of your church History. Check the Treaty (or Peace) of Westphalia 1648. This was the treaty which broke the back of the Catholic Church and allowed nations to follow the religion of the leader.
As for your overall question, freedom of choice is established in the Bible. Synods, treaties, Dictates and anything else by man won't overrule God's word.

I am not ruled by the Synod of Dordt - I follow the Bible, and the Bible still says what it always did. No matter what those Dutch delegates 'decided,' they were and still are wrong.
It's God's will that all people will be saved (1 TImothy 2:4).
In spite of that, not all men will be saved (Matthew 7:13-14).
Therefore, God doesn't decide which individuals will be saved; they will be saved based on their own obedience (Matthew 7:21).

Well, I'm not Dutch, so does that rule apply to me? Just because over 20 men got together to vote on a subject does not mean I believe them. I think I'd rather believe what the Bible says. And as much as I believe that God can do whatever he wants, he didn't create us to be robots. You know, that whole sentence doesn't make sense. How can my "free choice" belong to anybody else? "A lack of education, perhaps?" Not everything you read is going to be true.

The Synod of Dordrecht was nearly 400 years ago (1618) and applied only to Protestants. Protestants have never believed in Salvation, God or Freewill, so it must be only Roman Catholics, Muslims and Atheists who post on Y!A.

Free Choice concerning Salvation (not the giving up of accountability)
We are still called to "Preach"
We are not called to "Identify who is called and who isn't"
We must act like ALL are called this can be the only logical outcome.

Since that time, we have moved through the Enlightenment, the Modern Age, and are now in the Post Modern era.
The basic principle of the Post Modern age is: There is no absolute. What works for you may not work for me. You do your thing and let me do mine.

Church doctrine changes. Also I am Jewish and believe in free will and could care less what other faiths say one way or another.

You believe everything man has written - Man can be wrong -even if all these countries say so - it simply does not make it true.
