Try being Pagan (sigh). I was showing a person my statue of Kwan Yin (the Goddess of mercy) and saying that she gave me so much comfort, and the horrified response was "you don't believe in God?"
I gave her a pained look: "Of course I do; quite a lot of them. She's got a lot of different names and faces and aspects. WHY on earth do so many people automatically assume Deity is male?"
To her credit, she apologized.
If she hadn't, there would have been a few pointed comments about "gee, God has shown up as a voice out of a whirlwind, a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of cloud by night, tongues of fire on people's heads, and a talking shrubbery, amongst other things....and folk think MY conception of Deity is a little offbeat???"

Totally agree. I tell people that I get more proof of the existence of a loving Creator from a few minutes with the National Zoo's PandaCam than from a library full of Christian Nationalist writings. People laugh. But I'm not kidding.

I pray that you are blessed in your quest to seek the true Creator :)
Let me ask you though, isn't it possible that the Creator truly did interact with the human race? Isn't it possible that the Creator wants to be involved and active in his creation and that he wants to have a relationship with each one of us?
The Old Testament is a record of the Creator's interactions with the Jewish people. The New Testament is the story of what happened when the Creator decided to come to earth as a human being!
I agree with you that religions (including Judaism and Christianity) twist and distort what God has revealed to us about himself for their own agendas - televangelists often just want to make money and buy a fifth BMW, so they beg for donations on TV in the name of Jesus... but this is not what the Creator came to teach us.
Check out the bible, read the gospels for yourself and see what the Creator truly taught. Get it directly from the source.

I am a believer - in the Christian GOD. I do agree with you that the Creator is way beyond our ability to comprehend (actually the Bible says so - His ways are above our ways and His thoughts above our thoughts.)
That said the Bible is open to interpretation and I don't like the the way my faith is sometimes interpreted.Prior to the Iraq war some American preachers actually tried to use the Bible to support the war in Iraq. Now that the USA has lost the war thoroughly and buggered up Iraq terribly in the process, I don't hear any of them talking.
I am a Christian, and the Bible is very clear on how we should act and treat others. The two greatest commandments are love your GOD with all your heart and soul; & love your neighbour as yourself.
But of course the Bible is a big book and people have chosen to interpret it ways that fulfil their own agendas.
Does God the Creator exist; Yes. Who is HE? He is the One I read about in my Bible on my own as opposed to the one people preach about. True faith is about a personal relationship with GOD the creator; know HIM for yourself and if anybody claims to be quoting Him, verify! I've lost count of the number of times I've heard preachers quoting GOD out of context!
If we all tried to love GOD with all our hearts and souls and also to love our neighbours as ourselves, the world would be happier and more peaceful.
Why should you love GOD? Speaking from experience, because it is very very difficult to love someone you've never actually met. Once you can manage this, by begining to perceive HIM in a Spiritual sense; loving your neighbour (parent, work collegues, friends, enemies etc) who you see daily becomes a breeze.

All religions speak about God and how to get there (albeit their own way). Nothing wrong with organized religions. They all give their followers faith and a hope for a better world. Its inter-religious animosity that is bad.
Btw, hope you are not trying to create your own religion now! :-)
