A tried to answer a question that was deleted about sex and nuns and how they can go without it. I admit I had to laugh as although it is pleasant I do not place sex in the same category as food, shelter, and air. Does someone actually believe that they cannot live without it?

Yes I understand it is a personal issue. What I do not understand is why they think nuns can't do without. Nuns give all of their life and energies to God and service to Him.

I bet the idea was more - what could you do that would be worth living without sex.

But I didn't read the question.

Perhaps some individuals do believe they can't live without sex, and they literally can't imagine anyone else being able to go without. I personally can't imagine it, either. When I had to go four months without, I went crazy--and then there was the surgery I had for fibroids! But people are different. You don't always *have* to understand, just accept that not everyone feels the way you do or has the same needs you do.

A lot of the poeple live without sex, it's not a necessity, but because of hormonal reasons most people just need/want it, but it is possible to be celibate.

this is a crazy world with a warped way of thinking, but the Bible does command marriage...so in a sense I can understand the question although I believe It's love we cannot live without

You can live without it, but why would you want to? Sex is like clothes. You can live without them too, but again, why would you want to?
