Obviously, you are going to say "well they are not true christians". I've met many people, girls in particular. If the conversation permits, I ask them what they believe in. They answer "I'm a Christian". Now this is after they just swore repeatedly, possibly just had a threesome, was all over a guy, just beat someone up, just told someone that they hate them and they should die, did drugs. And they reply "I'm a Christian"

Has the Christian religion fallen?

What do you think?

Hypocrites the lot of them. They'd rather wear the name "Christian" as a title than actually following through with what it is really about. Kind of like calling yourself a football player when you know jack about the game of football.

This type of scenario is EXACTLY what fuels the statement that Christians are hypocrites. It is unfortunate that while in the public eye these people are claiming to be Christians. After cursing, doing drugs, being promiscuous, lying etc.. It's no wonder people have poor attitudes towards Christianity. If you aren't a Christian and see this you are justified in thinking-"Wow- I'm not even a Christian and I behave much better than that!"
This is unfortunate, because it keeps people from believing that
the Christian life is good.
The good thing is not all Christians act that way. There are some who truly TRY to be like Christ. I wish they were the ones who people looked to for the real deal about Jesus.
No, religion hasn't fallen, only people. Being human sinners makes us imperfect.

When someone accepts Jesus as Lord of their life there isn't some magical lightning bolt that comes down from heaven and makes you completly perfect. When they accept him their Spirit becomes brand new, born again, if you will and along with it they recieve the gifts of God, one of which being forgiveness of sins. Now even though their Spirit is renewed, their soul and body are still the same, and it becomes up the individual to read and feed their souls on the Word of God until they establish themselves enough to where every situation they confront, they confront it with the Word. Unfortunately there are many Christians today who merely accept Jesus and get saved but do not put forth the effort to truly become a follower of Christ. The Christian religion obviously has not fallen and never will and I believe the coming months and coming years are going to prove that. There has been alot of Christian activity lately and it's getting stronger, but, you will not hear of much of it because the media is basically run by large corporate companies who are out to make money; they are going to let you hear whatever they think will boost their profits the most.

Many Christians have a falling-away at some point. We Baptists call it "backsliding." Simply, some people, in spite of their faith, find it difficult to maintain the Christ-like lifestyle that we should, and fall prey to the temptations of the world. As a previous poster said, it's a battle all Christians fight every single day. Some are able to win, some don't, but thankfully, God is willing to forgive us, no matter how many times we fail Him. His Son, Jesus, won the ultimate battle over death and sin on the cross, and because of that, we can now be forgiven, and our losses forgotten.

Christianity has not fallen at all; in some ways, it's stronger than it's ever been. However, there have always been, and will always be, people who, when asked, will say they are Christians, simply because it's the faith they know, even if they do not practice it daily.

I'm brazilian (live in Brazil) and I can't speak english very well, but I'll try to answer your question.
The problem is not with the Christian religion. All that you say is written in the Bible: the last time many strange things wold happen! Many people, who doens't know the Holy Words, wouldn't understanding what is goin on, and even those who knows the God's word, wouldn't standing the loving missing. But those one that knows the Christian love, will understanding all the things are happening, but even so, their love wont be weak and will follow till the end of time with the words of Love that Christ left for saving those (truely) Christians.
Sorry, I hoppe you've understanding what I mean.

Unfortunately, this happens all the time. When you make a commitment to God, you are trusting Him to help you point out the areas in you life that you need serious help in. If it is swearing, then the person should be really seeking Him out and asking Him to help them stop this horrible habit. You see, just because we are christians does not mean we are without sin. We confess our sin to God, and trust Him completely to help us in our weakness because we can't do it completely ourselves. On the otherhand, some of the things you mention, like the threesome and doing drugs are in an out-of control category. That person may not have actually made a one-on-one commitment to God such as I mentioned and should not be viewed as such. It is hard, because alot of Americans view themselves as christians but don't have any understanding of the terminology. If you have any further questions, I will be happy to talk with you!

First and foremost Christianity is NOT a religion. A religion is a practiced act performed repeatedly. Christianity is a faith.

To answer your question specifically, No Christianity has not fallen, but those people of whom you speak have.

Only God and the person knows the truth in their hearts and only they know if they are His. It is not my place, not yours to try and determine if the are "true Christians". It is our place as believing Christians to point out their shortcomings, just as I would expect a brother in Christ to point out mine.

I can be a Christian and still sin. Christ does not grade our sin on how bad it is. Murder is the same as a lie in Christ's eyes, they are equally detrimental. The mark of a mature Christian is how you respond to the sin in your life. Do you turn away from it or do you embrace it?

The Christian religion is not fallen, just the people are.

You are correct in your thinking that there should be a difference in they way Christian's are living differently from other people that say they believe in nothing.

Yes, real Christians get into horrible sin messes.

As you also mentioned, perhaps they aren't real believers... being a Christian is more than verbally saying they are. It is a heart issue, true conversion effects the heart.

At one time, "cellophane" was a trademark, but people began using it for anything similar, and after a time, the word became meaningless. Similarly "aspirin," "thermos," and "escalator." Today, Kimberly Clark spends thousands of dollars to make sure that people don't use the word "Kleenex" as a reference to anything other than their product.

The problem is, people today have the false impression that you can believe anything and do anything, and still be a Christian. The trademark is being lost. My roommate in college claimed that you could believe in Scientology - which teaches reincarnation - and still be a Christian.

To be a Christian, as far as the Bible is concerned, you need to believe certain things (John 12:48) and do certain things (Matthew 7:21). These people may sincerely believe that they are Christians, but they're just pale imitations.

Sadly, there are many Christians who have no idea what it even means. Christians are to be Christ Like, and as we have all noticed, Christ would not be doing or saying much of what is acceptable today. The mission of a Christian is to serve God and your fellow man. When you call on Jesus to be your Savior, you are given the Holy Spirit to be a counselor through life. The Holy Spirit would not lead you to do sinful acts or into sinful ways and think that it is okay. Even Christians will continue to sin, but they should come to a place that they are actually whole heatedly trying not to do what they know is sinful. Many do not even stop to consider this. They just keep their sinful ways and some don't even acknowledge that they are sinners, they get all offend. To many denominations are twisting the word of God and his commandments to what they believe should apply. That is not for us to do. His word should apply today as it did in the beginning

No. The word "Christian" does not mean perfect. i believe that as long as you accept and love christ, and try your best to love everyone else then ur a christian. However , we are all only human, and we all do and say things we're not proud of or that aren't christ-like; some of us do them on a daily basis. i grew up in a very strict baptist family, and you'd be surprised at some of the things i've seen and done (and i'm still doing.) My point is that human beings make mistakes. That's why god gives us the option of confessing our sins and praying for forgiveness. Which is something i find myself doing everyday.
