The more I look at people who claim to be highly religious - be they Christians, Jews, Muslims, whatever - they seem to be the most judgemental biogoted close-minded unwelcoming people I know. They're the ones committing wars, murder, hatred, and racism. Are they the devil in disguise?

As biased as that question was I think you might want to look in the mirror before you accuse anyone else.

Because of human nature. We are humans, and are not perfect. We mess up all the time. Also, part of it is stereotypes that people have about people that are religious. Most people expect people that claim to be religious to be pius, and never sin, try to be absolutely perfect all the time, and that's just not how people are. When you see a Christian (I'm using christianity as an example because that's what I have the most experience with), or someone say, wearing a "I LOVE JESUS" t-shirt, you expect them to not curse, drink, smoke, swear, etc. When they stub their toe and yell "OH S***!" you are totally shocked. It's hard for religious people to keep up with the standard that people hold them to. So the trick may be for people to not hold religious people to such high standards, because they're bound to be dissapointed.

Yes, i agree with you. I think because they misunderstand the words of God...Leaders miss lead people and complete countries. But remember there is only one way you know who is a believer or who is a fanatic. You will know them by their fruits. So, many religions many people, millions, like the trees, if the tree does not give good fruit then you shop it, right? some day the justices will come so You my friend need to be ready and try to be in the first or second group because it is going to be so fast, so quick that only your spirit will feel it. Because people do not know what is the essence of religion - to develop pure love for God, the Supreme Being, Who has many names. They are in the bodily concept of live, proudly stating, "I am Christian. I am Muslim. I am this. I am that." But they are selfish, they do not really care to do what God wants. If somebody is truly religios, having developed pure love for the Lord, they are the most kind, loving, cultured, well-behaved and saintly people ever seen. You can also develop pure love for God, in this way becoming the best Christian, the best Muslim, the best Hindu etc. simultaneously.

Not all highly religious people act like that. And if some go against their own principles, it`s because they are just humans.
If you are really open minded, I think you cannot be extremely highly religious. Nobody possesses the TRUTH.

it is not true that highly religious people act so unreligious. religious people are true believers of god who follow the teacxhings of god and follow his laws which was written in the biblemany of those acting as religious ones and not actually religious persons because they do not obey god exactly. the are only pretending to be so and most of them are praying to idols, images made of stones and plastics and made of woods. they called them god but the said god can not talk, smile walk and can b e destroyed while the true god of religious people is a true and live god that nobody could see him god the father is in heaven watching us on the earth

because Christians are forgiven not perfect and still have to deal with this flesh thing called sin as we are all born under this curse of sin and death so we battle every day to try to be like Jesus who lives inside call the Holy Spirit to help us to be like Him and when we are wrong He lets us know our wrongness and then we try to do better and ask for forgiveness and start over again,.we have a GOD who forgives us before we even mess up and as we ask for forgiveness Hes there to help us along our walk in this life. we are in trail and errors of this life but oh boy what a joy i have in my heart knowing i will go to heaven one day and be with Jesus who gave me a second third 4 5 6 7 trillions chances to get it right and does not hole this against me because of His blood on the cross covers me and makes me pure in GODS eyes.praise GOD love Jesus freak oh by the way who does have to us but us sinners murders etc.......we are His people sheep of His pasture

Maybe it's because they are so bigoted. Religious people don't like it when people have different imaginary friends. They want everyone to believe in their imaginary friend instead.
