What is the exact error message your getting?
Are you able to view the video file your trying to convert in Windows media player? (Do you have the right codecs installed?)
Do you get the error when your loading the AVI, when the conversion starts, or when it's ready to write the DVD?
I've used used ConvertXtoDVD for several months now without issue. Update your question and we'll see if we can help.

Also what program did you use, I did a goole search and there are a lot of issues, and alot of solutions.
