Sounds like tapeworms. Puppies get them by accidently eating an infected flea when itching. So either your pup has or has had fleas at some point.
See your vet. They can give the proper medication for your pets weight and get you flea medication that is safe for puppies.
Tapeworms are gross, but in a healthy animal cause little in the way of problems unless there are several adults in the puppys system.
Please dont try to treat at home. Most dewormers available at the pet stores will not work for tapeworms, only round and hook worms. Over the counter flea products arent as effective as what your vet will give (Frontline or Advantage) and can cause irritation of sensitive puppy skin.

Tape worm. Like small grains of rice but moving.
Just go to your local pet store or vets and pick up some puppy worming syrup.
Pups should be wormed at 2, 4, 6,8 and 12 weeks, and every two weeks till 4 months. Thereafter every 3 months.
If puppy was not wormed at 8 and 12 weeks with an all wormer then you need to get and all wormer asap.
If pup is amonst other pets then they are more susceptable to picking up a multitude of worms, the need to worm all pets at the same time is paramount.
Pups can also pick up tape worms from lizards. If pup catches them and eats the lizards, the lizards carry the eggs.
If poo has lots of long looking strings, like spaghetti then that is roundworm.

I even have 2 canines and that i exploit a pooper scooper i offered from puppy's clever. It become around 20.00 and it extremely works only great. If poop gets caught on it then use a backyard hose or a pail of water and sell off it over it. or you may try what anybody else says too the luggage you stick your hand in them %. up the poop and swap it interior out and throw it interior the trash. i in my view like the pooper scooper. no longer something you're able to do plenty approximately having to %. it up devoid of having to bathe it in case you employ a pooper scooper nonetheless, if the poop is somewhat runny. do no longer might desire to be hectic approximately being embarrassed the two its all area of having a dogs.

Ewwwwwww, have your do poop outside because dog poop is absolutely nasty and you don't want to smell it or see it in your house. Secondly, you should go to the vet, this is not normal and is really disgusting.

This is tape worm. What you are seeing is the egg sacks being expeled from the tape worm.
Regular wormer will not kill tape. The larger pet stores now carry Praziquantel. This is the generic version of what the vet uses. It works. I've used it on quite a few of my rescues.

Yes they are worms! Take him to the vet to get him some wormer. The vet will also start him on a monthly worming treatment.

Your puppy has worms. He needs to go to the vet, and you need to take the vet a stool sample so that they can see what they're dealing with. Also, your vet will give him a wormer that will take care of them, but he will also need a monthly worm preventative to keep it from recurring.

Take the pup and a sample of his poop to the vet. They can identify the worm and give appropriate treatment.

I agree with suzieshowdogs that these are signs of tapeworms. However, you can't just go get any dewormer and expect it to work. Most dewormers are not for tapeworms. You have to buy a dewormer that specifically says it works on tapeworms. You can buy this over the counter but it probably wouldn't cost very much to have your vet deworm him. He needs to see the vet for his shots anyways.
