Heaven , in the Buddhist context is a realm where one may have to opportunity to reborn there by just some simple meritorious act such as never telling lies in this lifetime or live a moral conducted way of life ( answer by Buddha to question poses by Mongalana after questioning the devas ) .

Those born in the heaven realm is called Deva . They have a very long lifespan . However , once their lifespan is over , they will have to be reborn again .So , being in heavenly realm does not released one from the reborn realm .

Nirvane on the other way , means no rebirth anymore and thats the different between heaven and nirvana

The heaven concept is sole based on Buddhist concept on Heaven and not those in Christianity and Islam

In Buddhist there is a special heaven realm for “anagamis” (non-returners) (3rd stage of enlightenment). They are beyond sensuality, mainly enjoying meditative bliss, and attain full nirvana from the end of that existence.

same thing/ different name.
liberation & nirvana have different meanings but are in a sense the same as reaching heaven- the goal is to free ones self from life on earth & to be one with the creator if you believe in such (not all buddhists do- some do & some don't)
even if one did not believe in a creator, nirvana would be a state of bliss & freedom from suffering. buddhists wish all beings to be free from suffering.
hindus believe in the creator/God & you want to free yourself from the cycle of birth & death & continue to live in nirvana/ be liberated to continue to live with the creator forever= heaven.
that's my spin on it/ my understanding at least.
i use to practice a vedic type of meditation and am now more buddhist.
I was born & raised lutheran.
