WELL THAT'S AN EASY ONE TO ANSWER. IT'S BECAUSE THE 10 COMMANDMENTS DEFINE AND EXPOSE THEIR SIN.
SINNERS LOVE TO SIN AND THEY HATE ANYTHING OR ANYONE THAT REBUKES THEIR SIN.
SIMPLE AS THAT.

as most people in the world do not belive in the jewish/christian god - and the first commandment is that you must; then they are irrelavent to most of us.
it is not a question of hate, hatred is mostly a religious trait.
what evidence is there secularists hate them?
Maybe if those who quote the 10 commandments lived by them then perhaps the rest of us might take it more seriously, eg how many death warrents has Bush signed; how much spending does he authorise on wepons & military vs how much on developing peace; how much does he covet his neighbours oil ...
Why does the US not support human rights or international justice? this covers all the non-cultural aspects of the ten commandments.

Oh, please. First of all, most of the stink about the 10 Commandments lately is the result of the antiAmerican groups trying to establish Christianity as a national religion. That's treason, and we patriotic Americans hate treason against our nation. Roy Moore should be hung.
Secondly, most of the time that Christians attempt to defend the use of the 10 Commandments, they use dishonest strawman arguments of the form "Atheists must think that it's not wrong to kill, if they oppose the 10 Commandments". That's just simply a lie, and a really transparent one at that. Needless to say we hate that kind of lying.
Thirdly, as another respondent pointed out, you don't even know what the 10 Commandments are. There are several different versions. On top of that, the first couple of commandments are explicitly about establishing Christianity. Refer that one back to the first paragraph above.
So...Secularists "hate the 10 Commandments" because we're against dishonesty and treason against the United States. There's your answer, honey. Live with it.

I don't think it's so much hating the 10 Commandments as hating the idea that they should be displayed in schools and other properties that are paid for by everybody and meant to serve everybody. Of course parts of it seem sensible, but not everybody believes in all of them. "Thou shalt have no Gods before me" in particular is a clear endorsement of religion. If you want them on your lawn, T-shirt, book cover, or tattoo on your back, on the other hand, who am I or anyone else to stop you? It's a declaration of personal opinion at that point.

Do you have a picture or sculpture of Jesus in your house? Or a crucifix around your neck?
That's against the 2nd commandment.
Why do YOU hate the 10 commandments?

They hate God.
They go on 700 Club and brag about how righteous they are, but look the other way at all the wrong in the world today.
Above all, there is separation of church and state. The 10 Commandments is considered church, not state.

We don't believe in god. Have you ever read the Ten Commandments?
Don't worry, I know you haven't. You know 3 of them, right? Look them up online sometime.
