I think none of us can say for sure what we would do until we are actually in a position to do so. The soldier that jumped on a hand grenade to save other soldiers, some of whom he did not know, didn't really think through the situation. Maybe if he had more time he would have changed his mind. Maybe he would do it all over again if he could.

I would not sacrifice my life for a perfect stranger, unless of course a diety of some sort actually spoke to me, and I believed that said diety was actually a god/goddess of some sort. My life is far to precious to sacrifice myself to a could be God. However, if I had to sacrifice myself to save the lives of family, I would gladly perish, and do so with a smile knowing I saved my family.

Yes. I could sacrifice my life for a stranger but chances are I wouldn't. It depends on the situation and if I felt that it was neccesary.

No, I don't. I admire people who can, such as soldiers, firefighters and police officers, and I am grateful for them, but I know I can only make such a sacrifice for someone I know and love.

'No greater love' said Jesus, but how could you know unless you were confronted with that situation? It saddens me to think that I wouldn't do it, but I just don't know. I think if it were a child, it would be much easier than if it were someone who didn't deserve it, like some drunk who just plowed into another car, and saving him meant giving up my own life. All I really know is that Jesus did it for us, but then again, Jesus knew where he was going afterwards, didn't he?

Life is precious and mine is beautiful. I would not "sacrifice" it easily.
