Why does my girlfriend (age 53) keep telling me about her "crisis" at age 40, yet when I ask her to elaborate,

She's pretty open about most things, but she just tells me "I'm not going to tell you about it" or she just put her hand up and shakes her head.

There are probably a number of possible reasons...
1- Nothing happened and she enjoys bringing it up to get sympathy and attention.
2- Something rather massive happened that she thinks will alter your perception of her.
3- She's just being a jerk?

It is a crutch of sorts. She must feel it is important that she had one and that you know about it. Women are like this in that they never forget anything (that they don't want to forget). Men usually don't remember or give a ****. Women carry more baggage than men. This is just a fact of life so get used to it or it will drive you nuts.

You could be thinking anything really and I'd tell her that, say look until you tell me what it was I'm going to be thinking the worst, so you might as well tell me cause it can't be as bad as I'm imagining

Quit responding to it, just nod and smile and go back to the TV...if you show disinterst maybe she'll finally tell you.

i hate people that emotionally play games, in my opinion is either tell me or stop bringing up the subject.
