Getting him fixed will help a lot...he may still mount other dogs if he's showing dominance....the spraying will be pretty much eliminated except when in tact dogs are within his area ( male or female)... it's just natural to let other dogs know they're in his home or yard !!! Over all though, he'll be a healthier and better behaved dog...and the sooner the better....Good-luck !!!

At his age, it's already becoming a habit. Neutering will get rid of the hormones that cause it, but you may have to do behavior modification. Ther sooner you get him neutered the better. Neutering also prevents many health conditions in male dogs and curbs aggression, roaming, etc. Mounting is something that's also a dominance issue. Some dogs never get over this, but behavior modification should help. If you don't know about this sort of thing, it's probably best you don't breed dogs. If the female is yours, get her spayed as well.

Nope, sorry, too late. If he was fixed before sexual maturity yes.
You can only train it out now, even after sterilization.

Some sexual behavior is learned whether from other males or from instinct. Catch the instinct before it comes to fore (before 6 months) normally 90% successful. After, no hope.

Female with hernias, you should have had the hernias fixed before pregnancy, watch them, they may strangulate during the pregnancy due to the stretching.

I would say it is an umbilical hernia, that is near the belly button area. This can be prevented at whelping by holding the umbilical of the puppy and placenta, stopping the b itch from chewing too close to the pups stomach. Watch for this when your b itch whelps.

Since he has already starting mounting he will probably continue that a little bit after he is fixed. The marking should stop though. I have a 4 yr old yorkie who was the biggest hornball in the world before he was fixed. That was the biggest reason I had him fixed because I felt so sorry for him. he was obsessed. He still has his favorite little toy that he gives it to everyonce in a while..lol but his behavior made a drastic improvement after that.

I had my dog neutered before he starting marking his territory and he never started. My friend just had her dog fixed and he still marks his territory but not as bad as he used to. I think eventually they stop doing that but you will have to put up with it for awhile.

Yes, getting him neutered should help a lot! It should certainly REALLY cut down on him mounting stuff - although sometmes dogs still do that even after having the snip.

I know it is better to get them fixed at an early age. It keeps them from learning the humping behavior :)

Oh, a big majority of male dogs do that.
I don't know how to stop it though...
Male cats do it, too.
Female animals don't.
It's a normal thing!
