Depends on what you are having it with. You can flavour it with some pesto which is nice on its own. If you are having it with curry then fry some onions mushrooms and aubergine that have been very finely diced in some curry powder then add it to the rice when it is cooked with some chopped corriander. You can also make fried rice by adding the rice to a frying pan with some garlic, soy sauce and an egg and then mix then together until the egg cooks.

Dice onions, peppers and garlic and saute' in olive oil. Add basmati rice and brown. Add water and a dash of curry powder and some saffron, dried marjoram and salt and pepper. Then you may add a can of chic peas drained and cook covered until done. Also add some frozen green peas at the end of cooking.

maybe I'm not the best to ask as i can burn rice in a rice cooker but..
you can flavour it by using flavoured stock to cook it in rather than plain water coconut rice is nice i think you add shavings of a coconut block or maybe half water half coconut milk biriani is nice its basically rice meat and vegetables in one meal slightly spicy serve with a curry sauce or veg curry you can fry the rice in spices quickly to coat then at the water /stock add some sultanas and apple or once cooked you can fry it up with an egg for egg fried maybe add some cooked shrimp peas finely diced meat for a special fried rice rice and peas is supposed to be nice i think it uses chick peas or something of that nature and coconut possibly salt fish
can be used cold to make salads flavoured with dressings best bet find a Chinese recipe book will give you some ideas or a book for cooking around the world many cultures use rice might find something you consider new to you repertoire

My favorite: Basmati boiled in coconut milk perfumed with a hint of rose water, served cold with mango sauce and coconut shaves.
If you want it for fried rice wash it before boiling with cold water to take the dust away and it's not so sticky!

KEDGEREE
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups uncooked basmati rice
2 eggs
4 ounces smoked haddock, or other white fish
1 bay leaf
1 cup milk, or as needed
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon curry powder
4 green onions, chopped
1/4 cup frozen green peas
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup low-fat plain yogurt
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DIRECTIONS:
Prepare rice according to package directions. Drain, and set aside to cool. Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring water to a boil and immediately remove from heat. Cover and let eggs stand in hot water for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from hot water, cool, peel and chop. Set aside.
Place the haddock in a small skillet with the bay leaf. Pour in enough milk just to cover the fish. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, and cook gently until fish flakes. Remove fish from the pan, flake with a fork, and set aside. Discard milk and bay leaf.
Melt butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Stir in curry powder, then add the peas and onions. Fry for a couple of minutes, then add the cooked rice, eggs, and fish. Stir gently, and season with salt and pepper. Heat through, and serve with yogurt.
