I had all 4 of mine taken out at the same time. They put me to sleep, but I was in pain when I woke up.
Best solution for me was: Take rice, put it in a tube sock, tie the sock, put it in the microwave for about a minute and then put it on your face. You can use the same rice until it starts to smell like burned popcorn. Then, change the rice and keep on going! It REALLY works!

I got mine removed while in boot camp. I wasn't put to sleep; the dentist placed a toel over my face so I wouldn't see what was going on. I was given Novacaine shots in my gums, but I still heard everything. Afterwards, I was prescribed Darvocet for swelling and pain. I ended up with nerve damage, and to this day, I can't feel the right side of my lower lip. My wisdom teeth were taken out almost 3 years ago.

They put me to sleep so I don't know exactly what happened during the procedure. When I woke up my mouth was packed with gauze. Recovery was ok...ate lots of mashed potatoes and other soft stuff. I didn't like the suture removal that came about a week later. It hurt to open my mouth that far after babying it for a week. All in all, it was pretty easy. Take pain meds as soon after as you can before the pain starts...

You can be put to sleep if you want but many don't due to costs involved and it's usually not that bad. If you are not put to sleep you will definately be numb. You will feel pressure and hear crackling noises but should not feel pain. If you do feel pain, raise the hand on the opposite side of the dentist and he will stop, give you some more anesthetic and wait until you are numb. When the anesthesia wears off, you will be sore but it's usually manageable with Tylenol or Adivl. Most likely the doctor will give you perscription pain medication, I never took mine. Good luck and don't worry.

I was knocked out and giving lots of pain pills. It gets really frusterating not being able to eat almost anything and the pain is pretty intense for a few days. Eventually it will only hurt if you try to eat snickers too early (do NOT do that..you'll rip out stiches). Get lots of slim fasts, chocolate milk, milk shakes, soups, root beer floats. Oh those freeze pops are wonderful! and pudding. After a few days work slowly work up to speghettios and other soft stuff you can slurp. Don't eat peanut butter! I tried to sleep as much as I could!

I had all 4 of mine taken out at the same day. They put me to sleep, I ended waking up half way through the operation but was too drugged to feel anything. After i got back to my place it went really well there was barely any pain and for what pain there was the gave me vicodin. But there was nothing to worry about it all went really well.

great, I didn't feel anything. Usually they don't make you go to sleep. If its completely out its easier and heals sooner. It has bleeding for afew days and then its over. If it needs surgery then you should have it stiched for about a week + anti biotic.
BTW its better you did one side, like ex. the left so you can eat with your right side and when it healed you do the right so you can eat food with the left side of your mouth. So its much easier you don't pull all four altogether.

I got put out for the treatment, it was a great experience. I got all four out during the treatment. I woke up and don't remember anything. It was just hard not being able to eat anything solid for a few weeks. Just clean and rinse out your mouth after and they will not get infected and dont smoke.
