should I make plans to sell it, or should I give it away? I am really having a hard time with this. I could use the money, but morally I feel obligated to write this thing. If I am obligated to write it, am I not also obligated to give it away?

I have a feeling you will be obligated to give it away...but not because of any moral imperative. Nobody wants to read a Bible which teaches "we just don't know...nobody does" People want a Bible that has some answers and guidance.

you are putting your time and effort into something that means a lot to you
a surgeon doesn't do his job simply for the money but because he has a skillful hand .. which i don't care what anyone says , to me is as much of a gift from god ... and the surgeon has to eat , so he earns a living doing what is a god given gift... he may like you feel obliged to do this work ... but that work is worthy of an earning
don't feel morally obligated to give it away .. write it as a piece of literature that people are more than happy to purchase if they so wish
don't torment yourself with doing the right thing ... if you went out to work more hours in another job to earn money , you wouldn't have time to commit to your book .... so you have every right to profit from your work

Since you are writing you own Bible, you get to set the moral laws. And you can make it either moral or immoral to sell your book.

Or did you want the CHRISTIAN morality answer to this question? Funny how even people who don't believe in the Bible or traditional religion find themselves going back there for a moral compass...

you are not the right person to write about that said bible which you are planning to sell. a bible is a holy book written by the desciples of christ and true prophets who are intended to speak and tell the people ab out GOD. you are not in any position to write such book like the b ilble cause you were not given by god to write such. and you have no bases at all. do you think somebody will buy your own prescrib e book which i uyou call a bible you are making foolishness

As the author, you can legally do both, but odds are you won't make any money off it anyway.

You might be interested in the New Testament Thomas Jefferson rewrote. He basically took all the magical silly stuff out and just left the teachings.

It depends upon your publisher....If you have it published, you are under contract with them...They will market, distribute, and give you royalties.....If you self publish, you can do what you want, but there is more investment needed up front.

When I submitted my book, the publisher picked it up and I did not pay anything...I will get my first royalty check in September. However, I also give a lot away when I am able.

If you're working on an agnostic Bible, the answer to any question would have to be, "Who knows?"

That should be interesting

"Give" it to a publisher and let him sell it for you.

Just a bit misguided...
There can only be one truth...
I had to figure out that there is a God and I am not Him.
