You can hard wire it or install another socket or rewire the stock lighter socket. You will need a test light (cheaper the better) some fuse taps, some 18g wire red and black would be the most common.

Find your fuse panel in the vehicle and use the test light to find a 12vt source with the key off, once you find a 12vt source that has a constant 12vt hold the test light their and try starting the vehicle if the light goes out while trying to start then you'll need to search for another 12vt source as it's not constant the light should not go off if it goes off while trying to start the vehicle this is not a constant 12vt and your radio will turn off while starting your vehicle.

Tape the 12vt source with a fuse tap, make sure you put the tap on the open side of the fuse you can find this when you pull the fuse to tap it check the socket both sides and the open side will have 12vt or the light wont come on put the tap on this side. You can use a chassis ground just use a eye grommet and ground a wire to the firewall or other interior body metal.

Good luck.

Hard-wire would cost maybe $5-10

You mine besides say XM besides via fact that they merged.

You can't. Unless you want to do some f-ing retarded thing of wiring it to the actual battery, in which case you'd probably die.
