If you just need to do one or a handful of files, use Adobe's free Web PDF creator: http://createpdf.adobe.com/

You upload your file, and they create the PDF from the file for you. You can do up to 5 without paying for the service. Otherwise, you'll need to look at one of the PDF creater programs. Leew has listed a number of them above, you can also try PDfill's FREE PDF writer (http://www.pdfill.com/pdf_writer_free.html), no ads or funny stuff.

Cheers

Open the document. Go to the File menu. Drop down and select "Publish to pdf." Your document will be converted to pdf format.

Here at my work we use this program called CutePDF. It acts like a printer. All you have to do is "print" your document to the virtual CutePDF printer and it will save it as a .pdf file. Great thing about it is its free!
