Spotting is a small amount of blood. Spotting happens when the egg buries itself into the uterine wall.

Spotting is like a light period. "Spots" of blood here and there....not necisarily a flow. It is normal to spot during the 1rst trimester and long as their is no pain....but she should tell her DR and keep a close eye on it.
