Before I boarded a plane from Frankfurt to Detroit, the security guard asked me if I had any makeup in my purse. I thought he was just teasing and told him that I did. I was stranded with my grandparents who had no source of media that covered these matters so I was clueless as to what was going on. I handed him my deodorant, foundation, and mascara. then when he asked me to hand him my lipgloss, I got pissed and hurled it and told him to take it and shove it. He looked at me like "what a drunken *****". I was informed that if I had been sober I would have even been arrested for my outburst. Has anyone been through something like this and if so how did you handle it. I would also like to know how insults like this are handled among native born germans

It is bogus & when it comes to airport security, I think profiling is very necessary seeing as though it's only these fanatical muslims that are trying to carry out plane attacks...

Other than that - a lot of people from other countries are giving Americans a harder time, because of the crappy policies our current administration have made. We lost a lot of respect from our allies because of what is going on in Iraq...

I traveled on the day of the scare in London. While it was a minor annoyance to have to transfer many "normal" carry on items to my checked luggage, i did it without hesitation when asked. The airport security and staff at the ticket counter are only trying to do their jobs. No reason to get in a huff about it. You mention insults. Do you ever think that you were the one insulting the guard? Afterall, you were the one causing the problem and the one that threw something at him. get over yourself

At this point in time, you have to be very patient at airports, and that makes things go along smoothly even tho it might take a while. Being cantankerous only creates more difficulty and time spent on things OTHER than trafficking people around the airport, and that just slows things down. Be patient, cooperate, and you'll get to your destination as fast as it's possible.

It is not the airport's fault that you were not up-to-date on your current affairs. In this day and age, post-Sept.11th, it is incredibly stupid of you to throw anything, lipgloss or a tantrum, in an airport. Or ANYWHERE for that matter. Only children can get away with this kind of behaviour!! And even that's pushing it! My four-year-old brother behaves better in public. Grow up, sweetheart! (By the way, what does this have to do with being German?)

The agents are there for your safety, I'd pay attention to what they say. If something sounds out of the ordinary ask to see a supervisor. You must really have been in a hole in the wall not to know that liquids and make up things were banned from flights to the US for at least a week.

I'm a US Citizen on a 'domestic' flight with my bride from LAX to Honolulu 1994. The boarding area was congested 40 minutes prior to the flight & my 'seat' while waiting for gate call consisted of the floor. Like about 30 others in the lobby, my carry-on bags were immediately next to me as my bride strolled away to use a restroom. Another waiting passenger throws her carryon bag on top of mine & flops down beside me. As sarcastic & directly as possible, I asked, "Do you want to sit on my lap too?", removed my stuff from under her bag, got up & relocated. 30 minutes later, after watching the masses crowding toward the gate, even knocking down the velvet ropes, we heard our seat rows called. The gate accepted our boarding passes with patience as we shared disappoving glimpses of the mass excitement of 3 or 4 small groups of frantic people around us! Inside the walkway to the plane door, two dimbulbs are standing abreast looking back into the terminal, as if waiting for a member of their group. I've got my carryon, my wife immediately behind with hers & countless others following, I really expected the dimbulbs to move left or right allowing us to pass but they were not paying attention until I said, "Get the hell outta the way!" My US Army Platoon Sergeant voice boomed through that walkway like a 5 kiloton tactical projectile! They stepped aside while I hid my embarrassment as even I didn't expect such reverberation. We got to the plane, were directed to our seats & 10 minutes later, while everyone was nearly seated & ready to takeoff, 3 brite moose are around this snotty attendent explaining that I 'was not going to be able to fly today due to [my] rudeness to other passengers.' Moose #1 interjects, "We can do this the hard way or the easy way..." when I'm grabbing my jacket, carryon & say to my bride, 'I'll catch the next flight'. Then moose #2 interjects that since we're travelling together, she'll be off with me. While I was outside smoking a cigarette, my wife was questioned by airline staff as to where I had gone. They seemed to think I went to get a gun. I finished my butt, went back inside the terminal to collect the bride & my carryon when the staff asked me what I was 'going to do now?'. I took GREAT pleasure in pointing out that it was NOW, CERTAINLY, NONE of their business. We caught another flite later in the day through another aircarrier. We take special care to insure that we NEVER use Hawaiian Airlines ever again. The best way to handle an insult is merely disallow the opportunity again ~ you know, 'screw me once, shame on you, screw me twice, shame on me.' [Whew, this is the most verbose answer I EVER made! Cough up da beeg 10!]

With all the terrorism going on these days, one would have to be a total idiot to act anything but polite and cooperative while preparing to board a plane.

Due to recent activity the security measures being taken have been heightened everywhere. You should have cooperated and handed over the lip gloss. By throwing it you acted childish, then you told him to shove it. I believe you were the one being disrespectful first.

You are required to cooperate and if you do not, then they have the right to deny you your flight out.

Your best bet is to just do as they say and remain as quiet as possible, you shouldn't make comments or throw your belongings. They are there to protect you.

If your witless president and our equally moronic prime minister hadn't carried out the illegal invasion of Iraq, we wouldn't have these situations occurring.
