I only like toast when its cut into triangles. Why is this?

good question...

Because of the thin edge of the triangle, the piece of bread touches more tasting buds on your tongue when you bite it..you may even rest it on your tongue before biting it...that's why you feel the taste better...

on the other hand, a bite from a whole toast will only reach your tongue after having the bite in your mouth and while chewing it.. and the taste is totally different ..or distorted if I may say.

This also explains why little foods (bites) like Mange-tout are more tasty than the same food when in big portions.

I'm not sure. How old are you? I had my two year old granddaughter for a week while her parents were on a cruise. Every morning she must have buttered toast for breakfast. Each day when i fixed it, she would state, " That's not the way mama makes it." Then she would eat her toast.

Her mother called every night and on the third night I finally thought to ask her how she made toast. The next morning, when I fixed her toast, I cut it into triangles instead of squares. After breakfast she hugged me and told me that it was the "besttist" toast she ever had.

She is four now. I can ask her if you would like. Truest me, she will have an answer. She has an answer for everything.

i do not comprehend. I by no skill fairly theory so. yet, the different day my husband became questioning why my daughter (3 yrs old) would not devour the toast he made her. She became very disillusioned. I went to seem at it, and said the problem. It wasn't reduce into triangles (OR shaped right into a coronary heart ha ha), which I do for her. I sliced it...and she luckily wolfed it down. i visit't clarify the phenomenon, even with the undeniable fact that it sort of feels to carry authentic. ?

I think it's because it looks like you're getting more bread and less crust as they are cut on the angle. Cut in half you get 3 sides of crust but cut diagonally you only get two. It's the same with sandwichs I only like triangles. It's only an illusion but a good one! Glad it's not just me!

Yes!!! Yes!!!! I can't eat toast or sandwiches when they're rectangular. It just isn't right. No idea why though I'm afraid. Maybe it's the brain playing tricks or something...

In my book, toast should be made from square, white bread and left dry. Why would you mutilate a perfectly good meal?

perhaps it has to do with the butter to crust ratio being highest when cut? or it could be that its easier to eat.
