I have a lot of friends that are Jehovah Witnesses and they are the nicest people ever. I noticed a lot of people complain how they knocked on your door, they are not the only ones that knocked on your doors they are other religions as well.

They knock on your door because they want to tell you, just like other religion.

I am a Jehovah Witness and I want to thank you for saying such nice things. we are only doing with Jesus commanded us to do at Matthew 28 verse 19 and 20. if people are not interested they should just tell us to put there name on the do not call list. our bible studies are free. we don't get paid for doing this. we have feelings and live in your neighborhood. we pay bills and shop in your stores. Jesus Christ never said he was God. he said he was the son of the Most Holy Father Jehovah. even the 12 knew he was not God Almighty. when he got baptize, Jehovah said this is my son, the beloved. also no one has seen God Jehovah but they seen Jesus Christ. when you say the model prayer, what is God's name? God is a title not a name. Jehovah is his name. in the king James bible it says at ps 83 verse 18 also. we are not no it all's we are imperfect just like you and if we don't know the answer to your question we will get back to you. if you want to sleep until 12, put you outside light on and we will no that you are a night sleeper and not knock on your door. if I see a light on, I don't knock on peoples door. look up the word cult. we are a religion, we worship Jehovah and Jesus. a cult worships mere man. God does not want to sleeping with man sleeping with man or woman sleeping with woman. churches allow this but kingdom halls don't. we follow Jehovah and we hate what he hates and love what he loves. people who say bad things about us, are disfellowshipped and will say hateful things. but we don't care. we don't care what people say bad things about us. they only one that can change your religion is you. we can not do that for you. if you read the bible in the book of revalation in the king james bible it also talks about only the 144,000 are going to heaven and it also tells you in the bible that the meek shall be on earth.

Such "hatred" should be expected by true Christians in this time of the end, and it actually helps identify Jehovah's Witnesses as Christ's true disciples:

(John 15:19) If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.

(Luke 6:22) Happy are you whenever men hate you, and whenever they exclude you and reproach you and cast out your name as wicked for the sake of the Son of man.

(1 Peter 4:4) Because you do not continue running with them in this course to the same low sink of debauchery, they are puzzled and go on speaking abusively of you.

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

It seems signficant that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are the ones best known for their worldwide preaching work. Yet Jesus commanded that ALL who would call themselves "Christian" perform this public work:

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.

The Bible tells us to preach "This good news of the Kingdom". It is because of this that we preach from house to house and door to door.
The Bible also tells that because we do not sink to the same level of debauchery, we will be hated by some.

It seems, based on what others have said ib there answers, one reason people have problems is because of a lack of information.
We are not a Cult.
We are Christian.
I highly doubt the voracity of stories from people who claim that they dated a Witness, or their very best friend is/was a Witness.
As far as Christmas is concerned its origins are Pagan. Anyone who wonders this can research it. My hometown newspaper even went so far as to print a detail explanation of the Pagan roots of Christmas. This is not an assertion of strictly Witness origin.
As to the comments of former Witnesses, and how sad it is they are no longer allowed in the congregation.
First, Kingdom Halls are closed to know one who wants to be there. However, to be a member of the congregation in good standing one must have upstanding contact.
It is a simple priciple. We Jehovah's Witnesses strive to follow the Bible. When one decides to disregard Jehovah's laws he cannot be called one of Jehovah's Witnesses. We follow the Bible. The Bible is clear that Jehovah's organisation must remain pure. If one decides they are ready to come to living under Bible principles, they are welcomed back with open arms.
We value loyalty greatly. When one symbolizes their dedication to Jehovah through water baptisim they are publicly stating their loyalty to Jehovah. A loyalty that is to supercede all others. This does not mean we do not love our friends, our parents, our brothers and sisters, our children. If anything it enhances our love of others.

To be honest, I have had lots of Jehovah's Witnesses knock on my door and I've never had anybody from any other faith knock on my door, ever.

If that is a common experience, that would explain why people find them annoying. I merely tell them politely that I'm not interested and then get back to what i was doing.

Because hey some b4 12 noon on a Saturday! Some people like to sleep in and get annoyed when they are be awaken just to be preached to. That is the only reason. Besides the fact that though most JW's can point to the scriptures they also dont have alot of answers to alot of other questions or they want to come to your house for a bible study. Its not that serious! Also they come accross as Know it alls sometimes and nobody likes a know it all. I was raised Jehovahs Witness and I love them but they can get annoying!

I once dated a Jehovah's Witness-in high school. Sure he was a nice guy and all, BUT, he was constantly trying to convert me. It also got a little out of hand when he brought his Bible, Watchtower newsletter & highlighter with him where ever we went. We were young, so he'd bring this stuff to parties, pool halls, etc. A little embarassing!

He also once told me that Catholics (the religion I was raised with) actually practiced devil worship because we put up Christmas trees! He would ridicule the way my family celebrated holidays. I wonder what he would say to me now, I consider myself a Gnostic/Pagan!!!

Once someone tries to push their religion on you, after telling them numerous times that you aren't interested, there's a problem! Religious/spiritual beliefs are a personal matter and should be respected no matter what. If Jehovah's Witnesses could learn to respect other beliefs, they wouldn't get so much criticism.

I know several former Jehova's Witnesses whose lives were made a living hell ebcause fo that religion. Each one was kicked out of his or her house because they weren't living life the way that the religion said. Two I know were absolutely fabulous at tennis, and teh coach at their high school wanted them on teh team, but the religion would not permit them to hang out with other non-Jehovah's after school or work.

One wound up being gay and disowned by her family and prevented by the church from ever rejoining. A couple others were thrown out because they defended her.

Jehovah's Witnesses is a cult, a hateful cult.

I also pick on Mormons too. And the Baptists...

Anyone who comes door to door trying to save someone's soul is wasting their time and effort and should be mocked for making religion a cheap thing. Isn't salvation something that should be worked for, not handed out like a free car wash if you come in on saturday between noon and three?

Maybe it gets annoying when they try to convert you away from your religion...they can not take no for an answer.....if you are Jewish, Muslim or a different type of christian they get all pesty..i have no problem with them personally..i do get annoyed but am patient with them... i got the local JW boys trained to not preach to me..but you have to understand that it is offensive pushing your religion down other people's throats

My opinion : Maybe because they sell books and their main basis of belief is that good works will get them to heaven,( the funny thing is that they believe only 144 000 people will go to to heaven the rest will perish, so its over for the rest unless you become one of them and even then you might not make it. )
