Hey!! I reall feel bad for ya man. I had had the same problem at around the same age as yours (i.e. 13/14). I got into seious depression at that time (you know, school, girls, friends ..wtever reasons). It started with 4 grey hair and kept growing. I will say what I did cos I think I should share it with you, but before that I'll reply to your
immediate question.
Dying your hair is a bad idea in one way, cos the chemicals damage the hair folicles as well as the roots, so while u use it for good, in the end they damage the hair further. Now to the cosmetic effect, choice of dye is also important, many bad quality ones will make ur hair look artificial, as in everyone could tell u dyed them. So go for a reputed company..preferably herbal. But the point is, if you dont use dye, grey aint turning back ..let's face that. What I did was, since I was quite young when my hair started turning to grey, I started to color them in many different colors, probably it damaged my hair further, but both u and I know anything is better than grey..right. But in general, make a choice, if hair problem puts u under depression, hair color /dye is a better bet.
Since u r facing the samer problem as I did (and to some extent I still do), I'll share what really worked for me:

I went to the doctor, who suggested that the change in location and quality of water as well as general diet had been the main causes. He suggested few things (which ofcourse didnt change grey back to black/brown) but helped control the deterioration.
1. If u have dandruff (which I had at that time), keep moisturising your hair before u go to sleep and rinse it in the morning. There are many many ways, use a good conditioner, dont use hard shampoos often etc.
2. This one I think wasz the most important to me:- Stop using the normal water to wash hair, use cheap/clean mineral water instead.
3. Keep the diet in general healthy and balanced
4. Your nasal tract has a lot to do with your hair (I was completely surprised to know that). If most (90% of the time) one side of your nose is blocked, i.e. u r breathing only with one side most of the time. It can have terrible effect in general on your health and the first signs show up as some sorta damage to your hair (rangin from :- turning grey to losing hair or both). For the nasal problem (which I had and even now it keeps recurring, there are a couple of things you could do:- 1. Do cardio execises, they necessitate the use of both nasal tracts. 2. do this mnor yoga for like 5 mins a day, clos one side of the nose and exhale and inhale using one side and then move to the next side and do the same .. and repeat it for 5 mins.

wow...been a long reply man. hope things work out better.

My daughter was born with full head of hair, and never lost any. I cut about an 1.5 off when she was 12 months old, which left it just slightly below her shoulders. Now at 19 months it's down to the middle of her back. We do keep trimming it though, because different parts started growing in a different times, so it's layery (not a word, I know), but backwards almost. It's almost even, but even now she has more coming in on the around the outside. Honestly, I've been putting her hair in a pony tail since she was 4 months old, and I'm kind of sick of doing it everyday. But it's to the point now that I HAVE to do it, or it's in her eyes, or she's eating. And now that the summer is here, putting sunblock on is super pain because it gets all in her hair. Grass is always greener, lol!

Let it be.
1. To the people who've known you for 15 years, you'll look like a freak.
2. It's not gray - it's white; "gray" hair is actually a loss of pigment, and you can Google and find proof.
3. The white hair has never hurt Steve Martin.
You are a unique individual. Let it me. (But if you must, spend a little on a wig; you may see how stupid you look at the shop and not even buy it, or you can wear it out among friends and I'm willing to bet the snickers will get you past this unworthy concern.

yes you can use dye. your hair grow half an inch every month on average so you need to get hairdye to cover your roots again every so often. the chemicals are harmful. they have pulled some hairdye off of the shelves recently (women's) because they suspect the long term use of it caused ovarian cancer. you will not feel the side affects unless you are allergic which is possible. they recommend you do a test strand first to see how your hair will work with the dye and if you are allergic. if it starts burning, itching then you need to find a different dye. i could tell you how but don't wanna make this message that long. please read all of the instructions of the dye. do not get on skin, or eyes. do not dye eyebrows. the chemical will get soaked up and may cause blindness. hope this helps!!
