It depends on what you're looking for. If you'd like to know of a really good book to check out, I'd suggest "Complete Illustrated Guide to Holistic Herbal" by David Hoffman. It includes pages on different herbs, what they're used for, what time of year to gather them, etc. It also tells you how to make extracts, tinctures, lozenges, etc. It's the best book I have on the subject. I'll give you a link to it.
Hope this helps. =)

Sugar...You really have to see a specialist, not just make your own recipe. By specialist, it could be a naturopath ND, a Certified Herbalist, an Certified (check credentials, as 'certified' still means little to some schools of aromatherapy), a Homeopathic Doctor, or someone who has done it all. My chiropractor back home had done it all, and frankly, she saved my butt. Helped me lose weight, and all without a bunch of hoodoo. There are some legit hippie therapists, but still always check credentials, there's also an herbal bible out there somewhere, so you can check up on things yourself, but NEVER just try to concoct something at home unless you're taking echinacia (ugh) or castor oil (ughhhh) for colds etc. Be careful. Herbs are potent, essenses are potent and most MD's do NOT know anything about them, and so will simply tell you to stay away from what they don't know. I find it idiotic, especially these days, but hell, I find many things stupid, and people find me stupid and the world goes round and round....it's late, i'm tired, Blubbs out.

Be careful. Some organic compounds can also be harmful.

For instance: Saw palmetto can help prostate problems, but stops working after a couple weeks at most. It also raises your cholesterol level.

Certain organic compounds can have dangerous interactions, or interactions with pharmaceuticals.

i understand you want to go all organic but,
if your body doesn't make insulin for you then you need the shots to help you from dieing.
you need help from the doctors and then the organic foods, but ask your doc how much and if that's good enough for you,he might want you to NOT go all out on the organic foods.
