I need to ask her out.....today!!!?

I found that one of my best friends is crushing on the same girl that I am. He doesn't know I like her. But i do need to ask her out first. I am a very romantic and show my emotions to a girl with romance. I just need to know the way to win a young womens heart when we barely know each other. I know who she is and some things she likes but how can i call her up and get her to go out with me.

Girls - What do you think of a guy you know somewhat calling you up and saying he really likes you and wants to know if you would go out with him? I'm good looking , play sports(and am very good at them), and am romantic. I haven't had a girlfriend in a while...thats why im asking.

I need to know what wins a womens heart. Also we are both in highschool. I really like this girl and i feel my friend will just break her heart. He just broke up with his girlfriend because she wanted to spend time with him.

Pickup the phone, call.
1 - ask if she has a few minutes to talk. This will show respect and it ensures that she is not in the middle of something where you may get cut off. If she answers yes, go to step 2. If the answer is no, ask when a good time would be to call back.

2 - Being yourself and honest is the best first step. Tell her somethings about her that you like, and that you would like to hang out with her. Ask her some questions about herself like the types of food she likes, type of movies, music, ...etc. Obviously, this info will be handy when dating. Ask what she likes to do. This shows her that you are interested in her, and the things that she likes.

3 - Once establishing things she likes, ask if she wants to go do something soon. (Obviously, choosing an activity that she stated she likes is a big plus).

Whether she is able to commit to a date right away or not, tell her that you enjoyed talking with her. If you are polite and sincerely interested in her, she will pickup on it.
