If you mean pushing your religion on to others and telling them that your way is right and their way is wrong, no this is not being a true Christian. Living your life as a model of the life and teachings of Jesus, is what being a Christian is. Not badgering others and telling them that God won't love them unless they do what you say.
This is not what Jesus did, and it is not likely to be what God wants either.
Although it may please whoever counts the money after the Sunday collection at your local church.
You need to decide if you want to be a true christian or Just a big pain in the butt. You can’t be both.
Love and blessings

Discipleship is a daily maintainance. Everyday should begin with surrender and time alone in fellowship with Father. You must discipline yourself to a routine, so that this time is set aside for prayer and meditation. Meditation is When you are listening to God. Prayer is talking to God. It is important to renew your mind daily and take on the mind of Christ. This is not to give you the advantage over anybody but it wll give you the mindset that you were intended to have. You must be in forgivness, and you cannot have any sin issues that have not been put in the "Forgetful Sea". Coming to the now moment and dwelling with the presence of God is the most faith building mechanism that we have avalible. You must be still to know Him. He is always around you if you are in fellowship with Him, but to communicate, at the start of each day is key. In surrrender to God Holy Spirit will set you into the anointing were the rest of the God appointed details of the day are already in the vision. If possible it is not a bad idea to get your instructions in place for the day and crystalize them in your mind before you take the first step. From there it is automatic pilot. God being the pilot of course, and you being the co-pilot. Studying to learn the ways of the Lord will help you better understand who you are. Jesus, along with all the other many gifts that He brought to Humanity, stood alone as the only barometer that we have had as to how we are to be. He was the perfect example of the Christ within and we are to operate in that mindset also. It is not new, it is a lost understanding. In other words we have all lost our minds a long time ago. We now have the option of finding the mind we were originally created to have. that mind is the "Mind Of Christ". It does take discipline because we have been operating outside of that mind for so very long. Humanity has been playing with less then a full deck for a long time and it has become what we call normal. The natural mind is really nothing more then what any animal has. It just wants to eat, sleep and have sex, and none of those things are truly fulfilling the need for God. Only TRUTH will fit the mold that is left empty when we operate outside of Christ like mind, that Adam and Even had before they fell, and Christ has for us now.

Yes, most religions like it when you push your beliefs on others. Christianity is no exception. I find it generally rude, though.
If it were so evident that there was a god, there wouldn't be any need for "discipleship". However, since there are no gods, it takes a lot of effort to convince people that there is one and yours is the "true" one.
Luckily, you have evolution on your side. Humans have been emotional creatures long before they were rational ones. Therefore, although the arguments for the existence of a god are really weak, they do have strong emotional pull. That's enough to get most people.

Discipleship...if by that you mean walking the walk, not just talking the talk...then I agree with you. And there are tools of discipline that are the means of Christian growth. The ones I strive to make integral in my life are prayer, bible study, and worship. There are others and many good books that will explain how to get started in detail. Look on Amazon.com
If by gospel of the stomach you are eluding to a focus on materialism, yes, that is a struggle for us all in this life.
Peace and grace of Christ to you.

AMEN my brother!
Not only does discipleship generate a genuine walk with God, it makes it fulfilling and exciting! The stuff I've learned in Bible Study is so amazing...and I am naturally a huge skeptic. We can't just live the life God called us to without knowing Him and knowing why He would want us to be that way.
I could go on and on....sorry!

I am in total in agreement. Many consider religion and ethical living are two different things. Gospel is not for ones knowledge but for ones practise. For that matter, religion is for practise. It is not for mere festivities, merry making in a social gathering. I share your anguish, although i am not a christian. If all religions are to be followed in their essence, there will be no difference and no quarrel on the basis of indoctrination.
