..to slow speeding motorists? In built up areas ,balloon like devices
that pop up from the road in the shape of kids( which leave no marks on your car) but record your number plate via a sensor. The balloons only pop up if a nearby sensor senses speeding.A league table of the most balloons hit with the driver's details is then published in the local newspaper.

No think it will be a great expense but also joy riders will think it a laugh and see how many they can hit to get their details in the papers. I think have spikes come up if you go over the speed limit and damage all of your tyres. No Mercy.

In Theory this is a possible start to a new way ov slowing motorists down in a built up area, especially where highly populated by children. You would definitely have to have professional advice on this....BUT I would say go for it, BUT don't just bung um up ya-self, else ya would be in trouble BIG STYLE. Try speaking to a car organisation first i.e. RAC or AA and get an opinion from their highly trained safety officers, maybe put your idea to the local councils, road safety dept....Good luck Honey...Well done for initiative and concern for our children

I dint know if yours will work.
BUT
I was driving through a village in the sticks some where in cambridgeshire. The village is a 30 mph as most villages are anyway instead of having speed bumps all the way thought the village they have ONE, which is at the very end of the village just as it goes in to a 60. I think this is a really good idea as you have to slow down instead of speeding up as you reach the end of the village.
Thanks
Claire

get a life, driving is enough of a chore as it is without more people coming up with hair brained schemes to slow people down. Anyway it would develop from pictures in the paper to more government revenue raising.

they have speed camera for that but it can work if you use hologram but it will cause a lot of accident and alot of death due to the anxiety that you get from hitting a kid and it will cost alot and it will end up to the tax payer to pay more tax to build it. sorry man

the only way to solve this is to get the police to have a visible deterrent not hiding in bushes and unmarked cars trying to fill up their quotas as quick as the can

No, it might get confusing: people might think that real kids are just balloon kids and so on.

Wouldn't it just be easier and cheaper to stop making cars that do 160+ mph?

no. there'll be too many accidents by people swerving to try and avoid them and you'll be sued by every tom, dick and harry for causing them post tramatic stress disorder cos they'll think they've hit a child.
