not to sound like a million others but i would recommend a visit to the vet. i dont know if you realize it or not but sarcoptic mange will usually show up first around the eyes and face as well as other softer skinned areas such as the stomach and armpits. it will appear as bumps. this has to be treated promptly and with a vengeance as it is miserable for the poor little thing. okay, now the really bad news.... it is contagious to you and your family members and once out of control is a real pain in the rear to conquer. that is why i would recommend a visit to the vet first and foremost... not only do you want to relieve your pet of this insane itching but you sure want to protect yourselves because this can get outta control and be a real epidemic for your family and anyone else that comes in contact with your pet. please take this precious pet to the vet and get a scratch test, thats the only way you will know for sure and treat this problem , whatever it may be effectively. if not treated this could cause fatal results please please please, see your vet.

Keep her away from everything since you don't know what caused it. Check the inside of her mouth make sure there isn't a cut that could have gotten infected. Benadryl can be given to dogs, but it sounds bad you more likely need a cortizone shot from the vet. It will help her faster. It will make her thirsty so when you get her back home make sure she has plenty of fluids

Vet! Very Soon. Any chance the dog had an encounter with a nest of bees(yellow jackets) probably in the ground?

You need to giver her some benedryl. You will probably need to call your vet to check the exact dosing for your dog but my 15 pound dogs I can give 1 (25mg) pill and my 34 pound dog gets 2 (25mg) pills. If she is still really bad, you may want to give her the liquid because it works faster. Also, make her a vet appointment as they will probably need to give her a shot to boost her to help her get over it quicker. Good Luck

This needs to be seen by a vet since you do not know what caused it. This is also a bad reaction to whatever so I wouldn't recommend using Benadryl.
