The best remedy is a spoonfull of your local honey every day sounds odd but it works a bit like an injection your putting a bit of what your allergic to into your body and it fights it off, it has to be local though don't just pick up one from the supermarket. Plus honey is very good for you

Without doubt, the best remedy ever is New Era Hayfever and Allergic Rhinitis tablets. They are homeopathic so there are no side effects at all. You can take as many as you need to get the job done and cannot overdose on them. You are meant to take four tablets dissolved on the tongue, four times a day, but can actually take a dose every half an hour if you need to. I find they work in about five minutes and even stop the itchy throat and eyes. They don't dry your mouth out or make you drowsy and they even taste nice. Children can take two tablets four times a day or as and when needed, though they do childrens ones too. I find they have a cumulative affect, so the longer you take them for, the fewer symptoms you will have. It takes about five days for them to build up in your body and then you have to remind yourself to take them because most of the symptoms go and its easy to forget. I never remember to start taking them until my hayfever kicks in, and I do have to take more for the first week, after that though, just the normal daily dose and I hardly notice I have hayfever any more. They really are that good. I have used them for 22 years and told everybody about them, apart from one person, everyone has used them and swears by them. They are also cheap, about £5 for 100 tablets and widely available.

I've sufferd from hayfever for 10 years, this year was the worst. Local honey is meant to be good,as people have said, also Luffa liquid or tablets from any good health shop. Vitamin c supplements are also beneficial. I have to say though, after personally tring all those this summer, along with prescription tablets mentioned in earlier posts,i had to in the end go to my GP where i got an injection in the backside, and within a few days ALL my symptoms had gone. That was 4 weeks ago,and the injection can last for another month. It's the strongest thing you can be prescribed. Never made me tired either. Though i can say that that would be the case for everyone.

I've been taking hayfever medication for over 20 years... nothing works now it either makes me hyper or tired.

So I look to other ways... you will never get rid of it but there are ways to help make the effects less. If you can get hold of a mascara brush (carefully washed) use it to apply vaseline to your eyelashes... this helps to catch some of the pollen before it reaches your eyeball and greatly helps in reducing itchy eyes.

You can also get some of the eye brightening drops, can be bought in Tesco, ASDA, any chemist etc. as soon as you feel a tingle apply 2 drops. Can only be used about 4 times a day though and not for prolonged periods!

Also if you get some cotton buds and apply vaseline to the inside of your nostrils (just around the edge) far up enough so that it will not be seen but not too far up. This also traps a lot of the pollen before it reaches the back of the nose. The good thing about this is if you feel like you are going to sneeze all you have to do is squeeze your nose and its like re-applyin it. Works everytime.

Helps to make an irritating allergy easier to deal with. Good luck

Hayfever is another word for allergies.

There is help!
I was having terrible allergies, as were my mother and sister.I had tried everything. Even being on allergy shots for years was not helping enough.
Then I got an Ionic Breeze Ionizer from Sharper Image.
I was ok within a few days!

My mother and sister then got one and had the same results.
I had tried other ionizers before but they did nothing. I found that even tho they are somewhat expensive(abt $400) I was spending more on allergy shots, antibiotics, benedryls, decongestants and inhalers than the cost of the ionizer. Plus, with it, you feel well and your home is less dusty and smells great.

I hope you have the same results!

Beconase AQ nasal spray really works. It is a prescription and it takes about 5 days for it to start working. Allergy desensitation shots have helped me a lot, but it took 2 years before they started working. A good air purifier helps, but only if you stay indoors all the time. You could try local honey, if you are not allergic to it; some people are allergic to honey.
