There is a small degree of truth to that but herein lies the problem.Beans are also a significant source of carbohydrates which have an impact in blood glucose.When this happens your body secretes a hormone called insulin.If your blood sugar spikes past the point where the insulin can store the carbs as glycogen while at the same time having too much glucose in your blood stream the insulin will convert the glucose into fat and store it in your adipose tissue.They do fill you up a bit because of all of the fiber.The primary source of gas along with oligo saccharides.Beans are also an inferior source of protein because even soy beans along with all others do not contain all of the essential amino acids.Making them an incomplete protein.One of the keys to mitigating insulin activity is to split your meals up into many more per day.6-8 while backing off on your overall caloric intake and limiting the amount of carbohydrates that you consume.

Beans in general is a good food. They have many nutritious essentials that promote good health and are not high in calories. I am not sure that baked beans with their particular ingredients are the most favorable though.

if you wanna lose weight, eat three meals a day, with vegetables and fruit and with a serving of lean meat like fish and chicken. and exercise. no fried food, no snacking. dun substitute anything with only baked beans cuz you'll lose nutrients.
