If you earned it, it's yours (and you can take it back) - but you would have to prove this. For a contract to take place, both parties have to exchange something of value. If the person gave you no value (i.e. you gave the person the money as a gift) then you can take it back (there is no contract). Mind you this has a time limit, which is dependent on where you are. I don't know the time limits for the U.S. (would vary state to state) but I know it's either 3 or 6 years in Aus, depending on your state.

Whether he used you or not it all depends on the FACT of whether or not this was a Gift or a Loan. A gift no a loan yes. But remember if you go to court the proof will lie on your shoulders, you have to prove your case against him. GL

You can put anyone in court. Whether or not you win is another matter. It could cost you more than that for lawyers.

I wouldn't put them in court. I would put them in hospital. make sure you get that back.

if it was a loan.....most people would put it into writting.
