read to him/her all the time especially as an infant, and read classics, and scientific literature, as well as complex mathematical theory books, childhood is when you learn the most, so if you get it into their subconscious in the first year of life they should retain it well.

In order to bring up a smart child the best thing to do is to teach it things yourself while it is at a young age its mind will soak up all the information it can get. Read to them every night buy flash cards there are also special DVDs and learning centres that can help although remember that while you teach your child it is also important to spend time with them and let them play for an hour or two this is also important for mental development.

Let the child think, don't just tell him/her what to do, when, how, why, how much and so on.
You have to help the child draw his/her own conclusions.
You can help him/her with additional questions and small suggestions, but let his/her brain get used to do the hard work.
Growing up in a house with books and good music, among people who love, respect, help and understand each other gives you a great start in life, so try offer him/her that.
Also help the child develop a healthy system of values.
Encourage his/her imagination with colors and textures.
Don't make your child be afraid of failure. By experiencing we can get to knowledge and understanding.
Keep your mind open to everything new and laugh a lot.
May your child be blessed with health and fortune!

Not being funny - but arent' you being a bit pushy and have a few high expectations before it's even stopped using it's umbilical cord! How about bringing up a loved child, who has fun and learns at the same time. How about letting your baby be the unique wonderful thing it will be. Settle down a bit.

Congrats!
Talk to your baby from minute #1, everything you do talk talk talk.
Starting like" well little one, lets go to change your diaper"
Are you hungry - you look hungry, would you like a little drink?
and as they grow, expanding your vocab and the range of things you discuss with your child.
READ to them from the beginning, nothing bonds better and gets them used to hearing your voice so calm and nurturing.
Always teach patience and focus and keep it fun.
No guarantees, but this is a healthy start, good luck!
