If you have no past experience with credit cards usage, I suggest that you go in for a commercial Bank's credit card than any private company credit card. Since you have dealings with SBI, you may go in for a SBI VISA credit card. These days credit card issuing bank don't insist for having bank accounts with them, therefore you have choice of plentiful banks.

Besides SBI, you may go in for a VISA or MasterCard with Andhra Bank, Allahabad Bank, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, HSBC, ICICI Bank......list is long. Avoid taking up those bank's card which insist for minimum usage per month or so otherwise they levy penalties. Banks Like ICICI Bank issue life time free cards - No Joining Fee and No Annual Fee.

You may also visit various Bank's websites for details of all such cards and their usage, charges, cash withdrawals, payment options etc.

You may have billing address wherever you like. Alternatively, you may also choose for periodical Bills / statements by email. For payment of bills also, you may pay your credit card bills online with many banks free of cost. It is all consumer friendly and multiple choices. You may opt which suits you the best.

Well sir, you could get a credit card from any card company you want to.....the only thing that matters is whether you carry the required eligibility which the card companies demand. Like American Express demands a minimum of atleast a Maruti Baleno or Honda City catagory cars, plus a salary of 4.5lacs pa and the likes......other banks like HDFC or SBI have simple requirments.....all you have to do is call up the bank and ask someone to send a credit card executive to come at your place and that person will explain all the formalities to you. Thats the easiest way you could go about it.
