Good choices!
I've done both many times and have always had a great time. You will probably find though that horse racing is a day time affair and dog racing is more of an evening event.
Horse racing can be a bit more formal depending on where you go. Sometimes they insist that women's skirts are below the knee and that your shoulders are covered and that men must have a collar - so no t-shirts - but that's normally if you want to go into the enclosure. Dog racing is much more informal and you can wear whatever you want!
Either way, they're both great choices and I'm sure he'll have a great birthday!

Think the question has been answered already - both are fun but both are completely different! Horse racing can be much more of a day out for getting dressed up and the like. But if you want an evening just for fun and casual stuff then definetely the dogs.
Also with dogs there are more races and so you can place small bets and have more chances of winning.
At our local dogs there is a reasturant that over looks the track if you do fancy getting dressed up a bit.

it deponds on what kind of people u r.
dog racing is more exciting and more entertaining for normal people, cos,u dont need to be an expert to pick the winner, and every 15 mins race on again.
horse racing is more enjoy the quality of the race, if good quality horse come up, it is very entertaining, anyway, horse racing is more for who have contacts with owners, trainers, and breeders.
i would go for horse racing, would like to wag a few quad on some donkeys.

Horse racing if you want to get tarted up The dogs if you want a fun but not so fussy day.
If he's a lad's lad then the dogs (he'll love you for it) but if he likes making a bit of a fuss then the horses.
P.s . If he's a nice boy, he'd prefer which ever makes you happiest....as long as you show how much you enjoyed yourself when you get home.....wink wink.

At this time of year the dogs will win as evening horse racing begins to run down and only the smaller floodlit meetings go on.
